ABU DHABI // Tickets have sold out for the band Coldplay’s New Year’s Eve concert within hours of going on sale, organisers said.

Flash Entertainment said on Wednesday that all ticket categories for the December 31 show in Abu Dhabi sold out within hours, making it the fastest selling event in the company’s history.

The British band’s show at du Arena on Yas Island is part of their A Head Full of Dreams tour, following the release of their album of the same name. The four-member band fronted by singer Chris Martin previously performed in the UAE in 2009 and 2011.

Flash had said that those with tickets to this year’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix could get a 20 per cent discount on tickets for the concert.
