ABU DHABI // The UAE and Brazil signed three accords during Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed’s state visit to South American country on Thursday.
Two agreements – one on air transport service and another on visa wavers for holders of ordinary passports – as well as one on reciprocal visa exemption for holders of diplomatic, special, official and service passports were signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and his Brazilian counterpart, Aloysio Nunes, in the capital Brasilia.
“This is my fifth visit to Brazil. On each visit, I bring more hope, ambitions and confidence to promote and bolster these relations,” said Sheikh Abdullah.
He said the signings would held promote tourism and trade between the two countries by easing travel for citizens between them.
Emirates Airlines operates 21 weekly flights between the UAE and Brazil, while non-oil trade between the two countries stood at US$2.5 billion in 2016.
The ministers also discussed challenges their countries faced such as terrorism and extremism, and ways they could jointly act against them.
Mr Nunes thanked Sheikh Abdullah for the visit which he said would: “help strengthen relations between our two countries now and in the future”.
