Ys VIII: Lacrimosa Of Dana Is Heading West In Fall 2017

Good news, JRPG fans! The latest installment for the popular Ys series is coming to the United States.

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana is coming stateside on fall 2017. If you want your JRPG fix but Final Fantasy VII Remake feels like eons away, then Ys VIII can give you relief. NIS America will bring this long-running JRPG franchise, which has its own respectable fanbase.

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana is the eighth game in the series’ lore. It is the first one in the main storyline after eight years. The game will be released on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.

Eighth After Eight: Worth The Wait?

Fans who eagerly anticipated for the game’s sequel after Ys Seven eight years ago will find the wait all worth it. Again, they can follow the adventures of the iconic red-haired swordsman hero Adol. Early development trailer of the game showcased improved graphics and a fast-paced combat style.

According to NIS America’s official press release, Adol wakes up in a cursed island after being shipwrecked. He and fellow shipwrecked survivors team up to defend a village from beasts. All the while, Adol dreams of a mysterious otherworldly blue-haired lady, the titular Dana.

The key features of the game as officially revealed promise to bring more action and story to the series. You can “switch characters on the fly” as you battle monsters and foes in a “lightning-fast combat.” The game’s lore want you to explore the mystery surrounding the island and the blue-haired maiden while helping form a village.

NIS America Brings ‘Ys VIII’ To The West

NIS America is bringing Ys VIII in physical and digital forms for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in fall 2017, with a port to Windows PC coming via Steam. The game will have dual audio in English and Japanese, with English and French in-game text support.

There will be a limited edition worth $99.99 for PS4 available for preorder. This bundle includes the main game, a hardbound art book called The Codex of Adol Christin: Periplus of the Goethe Sea Writing Materials, the original soundtrack, a 33″ x 40″ cloth poster, Adol and Dana acrylic bookends, a SteelBook collector’s case, and a collector’s box.

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana is part of the five games that NIS America will be localizing for North America and Europe. These games include Tokyo Tattoo Girls (Vita, Steam), RPG Maker Fes (3DS), Culdcept Revolt, and Touhou Kuboto V: Burst Battle (PS4).
