Uber and RTA Introduce ‘Uber School’ to Enhance Student Transportation in Dubai

Uber, in partnership with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority , has unveiled ‘Uber School,’ a transportation service tailored for students aged eight and above. This initiative aims to provide families with a cost-effective and secure solution for daily school commutes.

Operating between 6 AM and 6 PM, Uber School aligns with standard school hours and accommodates extracurricular activities. Parents can anticipate savings of up to 35% on transportation expenses when booking ten or more trips weekly. The service is integrated into Uber Teens accounts, enabling parents to monitor rides in real-time and receive trip notifications, ensuring peace of mind.

To utilize Uber School, parents must establish a Teen account within the Uber app by navigating to Account > Family and Teens > Invite Child. After the child completes a mandatory safety onboarding process, parents can activate Uber School by completing a registration form. Once approved, rides can be requested through the Uber app.

Carine Arif, Head of Communications, MENA at Uber, emphasized the service’s focus on affordability and reliability:

> “We designed Uber School with students in mind, ensuring an affordable, efficient, and reliable commuting solution with enhanced safety features.”

Adel Shakeri, Director of Planning and Business Development at RTA, highlighted the significance of the collaboration:

> “We are pleased to partner with Uber, a globally trusted ride-hailing provider, to introduce a vital and reliable service for school students and their families in Dubai.”

This development comes as Dubai’s private education sector experiences significant growth. In the 2024-2025 academic year, 387,441 students are enrolled across 227 private schools, reflecting a 6% increase from the previous year. The surge in student numbers has prompted plans to establish 100 new private schools by 2033 to meet the rising demand.
