Legendary fashion designer Elie Saab has joined forces with British brand The Rug Company on a collection inspired by his signature design elements: femininity, luxury and modernity.
Drawing on his personal passion for architecture and interiors, Saab created three modern rug designs that revolve around themes such as foliage, floral motifs, texture and abstraction.
One of the designs, In Bloom, features oversized florals in shimmering silk tones of teal, gun metal and green. The blooms burst from both ends of the rug and reach for its center, creating a mirror pattern.
The Lace Leaves design translates the delicate lace motifs prevalent in Saab’s work. Abstracted leaves in raised silk yarns float on a matte wool background of the same colour.
The Brushstrokes design is an abstraction of painterly movements, where subtle colours gently merge together in shimmering silk yarns. Each tone of the palette is matched in lustrous silk then blended with its neighbours to give a decorative effect.
All three rugs have been handwoven by The Rug Company’s weavers in Nepal, using age old weaving techniques and natural yarns. The collection is available exclusively from The Rug Company’s showrooms worldwide.
