ATHENS Greek police fired teargas to disperse demonstrators in central Athens on Wednesday as a protest was underway against new austerity measures in the country’s parliament.


Reuters witnesses saw several rounds of teargas being fired against demonstrators. Some demonstrators responded by throwing firecrackers at police.
