Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday replied to the ‘Motion of Thanks’ to President Droupadi Murmu’s address in the Lok Sabha and addressed the “anger” of opposition parties towards actions taken by the probe agencies against corruption. He stated that the country is “shocked to see stacks of cash being recovered”.

Talking about the multiple ongoing probes against various opposition leaders and the dissent rife against the same, PM Modi highlighted the irony of how 10 years earlier all discussion was “focussed on corruption”, but now there is so much “anger towards probe agencies taking on corruption”.

On his government’s action against corruption, PM Modi said, “The country is shocked seeing the stacks of cash being recovered”, adding that the number of cases registered under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in his government was twice as compared to the previous regime.

“Investigating is the right of agencies and the judiciary is there to judge. I want to make it clear, that action against corruption to continue. Jo loota hai wo lautana padega,” the prime minister said.

“Those who are on parole and convicted. They are being praised. What kind of inspiration do you want to give to the next generation?” he added.

PM Modi further spoke about the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, and expressed confidence that the BJP will cross 370 seats and NDA will cross 400 seats in the 2024 elections.

“The third term of our government is not very far now. Only 100-125 days remain to go…I don’t go into numbers but I can see the mood of the country. It will make the NDA cross 400 and BJP will definitely get 370 seats…The third term will be about taking very big decisions…” he said.
