Thunderstorms from Friday as 'unstable weather' is forecast this weekend

ABU DHABI // Unstable weather is expected to continue into the weekend with thunderstorms predicted from Friday.

High winds will continue causing poor visibility due to sand and dust with the weather on Thursday expected to be partly cloudy in general with a chance of rain, especially over western and coastal areas, according to the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology.

Winds will increase in speed over the sea by the evening and on Friday morning.

The sea will become very rough by Thursday evening with the Arabian Gulf and Sea of Oman remaining choppy throughout the weekend.

Temperatures will range between 15°C and 29°C along the coast, 15°C to 31°C inland and 9°C to 22°C in the mountains.

Wind speeds are expected to climb to 55 kph in the coastal areas of the country.

Light, scattered rain is expected on Saturday. Fresh winds will be strong at times over the sea and more exposed areas of the country, such as motorways.

Seas will be rough in the Arabian Gulf and very rough in the Sea of Oman.

Weather across the country has been unstable over the past week with wet and windy conditions causing numerous accidents and disruption across the country on Tuesday.

Mist and fog caused poor visibility on the roads with some retail facilities such as Global Village having to shut down on Monday due to the poor weather conditions.

Forecasters indicated that 57mm of rain fell across the country on Tuesday.
