DUBAI // A national survey to measure happiness and positivity was announced by the Government on Sunday.
Starting on December 12, about 14,000 people – including nationals, expatriates, visitors and tourists – will be polled across the country.
The survey will be conducted with the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority as well as the Abu Dhabi and Dubai statistics centres, said Ohood Al Roumi, Minister of State for Happiness.
The aims are to identify priorities and sources of happiness for UAE society and create a database to help local and federal entities develop legislation, policies, plans and services, reported Wam, the state news agency.
Participants will be asked about subjects including quality of life, education, learning, health care, society, culture, environment, infrastructure, government services, living standards and work.
“Happiness and positivity are among the priorities and goals set by the UAE Government, which seeks to identify what affects society’s happiness,” Ms Al Roumi said.
