Users of X, formerly known as Twitter, have reported widespread difficulties in posting messages and accessing certain features on the platform. The issues began around 3 p.m. Eastern Time, with thousands of users affected globally.
Downdetector, a website that monitors online service outages, recorded over 15,000 reports from X users experiencing problems such as inability to load timelines, post updates, and send direct messages. The disruptions were not limited to a specific region, indicating a global impact.
In the United Kingdom, more than 800 individuals reported issues on Downdetector, while in the United States, the number exceeded 8,000. Users attempting to access the platform were met with error messages, preventing them from engaging with the service.
The cause of the outage remains unclear, as X has yet to release an official statement addressing the disruptions. This silence has led to frustration among users, many of whom rely on the platform for communication and news dissemination.
Technical problems also plagued other features within the X app. Some users were unable to access direct messages, while others encountered difficulties following additional accounts. TweetDeck, a feature designed for managing multiple timelines, was also reported to be down for some individuals.
