ABU DHABI // A 24-year-old Emirati women’s football player died in a car accident on Wednesday.
The UAE Football Association said that it mourned Khadijah Al Balooshi and offered condolences to her family
The 24-year-old was buried in Bani Yas Grave in Abu Dhabi on Thursday afternoon.
Al Balooshi’s friend Maitha Al Thaheri said many in Abu Dhabi are upset following her death.
“Khadijah is my friend at Al Wahda Club. She is known to all about her goodness as she treats all her friends like her sisters,” the 19-year-old said.
Ms Al Thaheri remembered her friend as smiling and loving, and had decided to play football professionally because it was her hobby.
