You may be able to tell if it’s a future bird or just an egg, with a candle, but that’s all. There are other ways of determining the sex. When they do that, it’s to “abort” the males before they hatch. Somehow it seems cruel grinding up all the little male chicks, but not killing and eating adults. Something to think about while you’re enjoying your breakfast.
