Oman's Bank Sohar appoints CFO and AGM of compliance

Muscat, February 14, 2017

Bank Sohar, continuing to invest in the capabilities and growth of its Executive Management members, has announced the appointment of Mr. Pieter De Witt, as the Bank’s new Chief Financial Officer and Mr. Khalid Khalfan Rashid Al Subhi, as the new AGM and Head of Compliance. Both; Mr. Pieter De Witt and Mr. Khalid Al Subhi are highly qualified individuals in their respective fields.

Commenting on the new appointments, Mr. Sasi Kumar, Acting CEO of Bank Sohar said, “We are pleased to welcome Mr. Pieter Burger De Witt and Mr. Khalid Khalfan Rashid Al Subhi to the bank, both of whom have almost 20 years of experience in the financial sector. I am confident their leadership skills, coupled with their focus on continuous improvement and performance will serve Bank Sohar well as we drive our growth strategy and progress on our path towards Banking excellence.”

Mr. Pieter De Witt, a British national, is a qualified chartered accountant with over 20 years of experience in the Banking Sector. Prior to joining Bank Sohar, he served as Head of Financial Reporting & Review with Arab National Bank and Saudi Hollandi Bank in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). In addition, he previously worked at globally recognized and respect institutions, such as, Merrill Lynch and PricewoaterhouseCoopers (PWC) in London, and KPMG in South Africa.

Commenting on his appointment at Bank Sohar, Mr. Pieter De Witt said, “I am excited to be joining Bank Sohar, one of the leading Banks in the Country. With my new appointment I join an exceptional management team that has guided the Bank towards success over the past ten years and I look forward to positively contribute towards its profitable growth in the years to come.”

Mr. Khalid Al Subhi joins Bank Sohar as the AGM and Head of Compliance with almost 20 years of experience as a Central Banker; leaving his former post as a Senior Bank Examiner at the Central Bank of Oman. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Banking and Financial Sciences from Arab Academy for Banking and Financial Science.
