Orange Jordan unveils satellite internet to enhance connectivity

Orange Jordan has introduced a satellite internet service aimed at delivering high-speed connectivity across the country, including remote and underserved regions. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to bridge the digital divide and ensure comprehensive internet access.

The newly launched service offers three subscription plans tailored to diverse user needs. The Essential plan provides download speeds of up to 20 Mbps, the Advanced plan offers up to 40 Mbps, and the Premium plan delivers speeds reaching 100 Mbps. Each plan includes an upload speed of 5 Mbps and unlimited data capacity. The pricing structure is set at JOD 35, JOD 40, and JOD 45 per month for the Essential, Advanced, and Premium plans respectively, excluding taxes. A promotional discount is available for the first three months, reducing each plan’s cost by JOD 5. Subscribers are required to commit to a two-year contract, with a one-time installation fee of JOD 50.

This development aligns with Orange’s recent strategic partnership with Eutelsat, announced on March 4, 2025. The collaboration aims to accelerate satellite internet deployment in Africa and the Middle East, focusing initially on Jordan, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. By leveraging Eutelsat’s KONNECT satellite technology, the partnership seeks to provide reliable and accessible internet services, particularly in isolated areas.

Jérôme Hénique, CEO of Orange Middle East and Africa, emphasized the significance of this collaboration, stating that it underscores Orange’s commitment to connecting all territories and bridging the digital divide in the region. He highlighted that Orange serves over 160 million customers in Africa and the Middle East and is dedicated to providing digital access for all.

Cyril Dujardin, President of the Connectivity Business Unit at Eutelsat, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, noting that the combination of Eutelsat’s satellite technology and Orange’s local presence creates a robust solution to accessibility challenges. He asserted that the initiative aims to provide reliable and affordable connectivity for both consumers and businesses.

In addition to the satellite internet service, Orange Jordan has been actively enhancing its technological infrastructure. The company launched 5G services in Amman and Irbid, marking a significant milestone in the country’s digital transformation. This rollout is expected to foster economic growth, job creation, and improved quality of life by enabling new opportunities across various sectors.
