RAK Chamber Discusses Development of Economic Relations with Poland

Ras Al Khaimah, UAE – During a meeting at RAK Chamber between the chamber’s Chairman, H.E. Yousef Obaid Al Nuaimi and H.E. Robert Rostek, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the UAE, Al Nuaimi highlighted the importance of the development of economic relations between the Ras Al Khaimah and Poland. He underlined the chamber’s commitment to support, develop and diversify fields of economic and investment cooperation with Polish companies to promote such relations and to raise awareness among Polish investors of the investment opportunities, the facilities and the services offered by the Ras Al Khaimah authorities to companies and investors wishing to invest and do business. He also noted the existence of a mutual desire to bolster economic and commercial cooperation in service of the economy of both.

Al Nuaimi added that economic meetings help create means of communication between the business community in the UAE and other countries, and project the investment climate and atmosphere in the UAE, which is, as a result of its strategic location, a gateway to a large consumer market. The UAE can act as a launch pad for Polish companies wishing to enter the region’s market, the Middle East, South East Asia, and the African continent, thanks to its geographical position and the competitive advantages it provides to investors.

Dr. Ahmed Rashed Al Shemaili, Assistant Director General of Commercial Service and Business Development Sector at RAK Chamber, emphasized during the meeting the chamber’s desire to develop new areas and horizons of cooperation between companies and establishments in the Emirate and Poland, especially in those fields of focus in the RAK Economic Plan, namely, industrial sectors, education, healthcare, tourism, transportation, infrastructure, and other elements important to RAK’s economy. He stressed the importance of the strategic location of the Emirate, which assists investor expansion in the region’s markets and the development of their business and commercial and investment activities.

From his side, the Polish Ambassador gave a presentation about the investment opportunities available in Poland, calling on Emirati investors and companies to avail themselves of such opportunities and strengthen their presence in Polish markets. He also mentioned the opportunities available within Poland’s business environment, through the creation of new economic strategic partnerships between the Emirati and Polish business sectors, especially in the sectors of tourism, trade, agriculture, innovation, and emerging enterprises. He highlighted that Poland shares with the UAE a promising economic vision, confirming the necessity of economic cooperation between them and taking advantage of the capabilities available on both sides.

Imad Eddine Oubiri, Business Development Expert, Investment Promotion Director at RAK Chamber, gave an overview on the role and tasks of RAK Chamber and the services it offers to members and investors through its various departments, which offer their services and strive to enhance the competitive business environment in Ras Al Khaimah and to attract more companies and investors to invest within the Emirate. He also noted that exported and re-exported goods to Ras Al Khaimah from the EU amounted 2.143 Billion Dirhams in 2016 according to the certificates of origin issued by RAK Chamber.

Economic and commercial relations between Ras Al Khaimah and Poland were discussed in the meeting, along with means to bolster communication between their business sectors. The Ambassador invited the chamber to visit Poland to review investment opportunities there. The Chamber’s Chairman accentuated the need to hold a meeting between both parties so that a delegation of Polish businessmen could visit the Emirate. It was also agreed to organize a meeting for businessmen from both sides to discuss how to expand cooperation in the nearest future.
