Revenues of 93rd public auction hits AED42 million

Roads and Transport Authority – Manal Khaled: The proceeds of the 93rd Public Distinctive Number Plates Auction held by Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) the day before yesterday (Saturday) at the Emirates Towers Hotel clocked AED42 million. Three licensing plates accounted for the lion share fetching AED15 million. The plate I 10 was the auction topper selling for AED6.7 million.

Ahmed Bahrozyan, CEO of RTA Licensing Agency, commented: “The auction was quite popular as the number of attendees reached 500. 91 plates were offered comprising various codes. The plate Q 12  brought back AED5 million followed by C 55, which made AED4 million.

“The number C 888 was the best seller amongst the three-digit plates fetching AED1.81 million, and M 222 was sold for AED1.44 million. In the four-digit plates, the number I 1000 was sold for AED1.1 million. In the five-digit plates, the number L 11111-yielded AED1.98 million and E 55555 was sold for AED1.03 million.

“A lucky bidder was awarded the complimentary plate P 479 through a draw conducted at the end of the auction in a bid to add happiness to clients and encourage them to attend the forthcoming auctions.

“The 93rd plate was hugely competitive attracting bidders from all spectrums of the community with different age levels and backgrounds in a testament to the success of public auctions; which have now reached 93 sessions. The next open auction will be held in February 2017,” added Bahrozyan.
