Sago Lane fire: Man, woman in hospital after morning blaze in HDB flat – International Business Times, Singapore Edition

Fire engulfed a residential unit at Sago Lane in the wee hours of Monday following which two people were rushed to the hospital, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said.

According to Channel News Asia, the victims, a man in his 50s and a woman in her 80s, both residents of the affected HDB flat, suffered smoke inhalation. The SCDF said that it was alerted about the incident at Block 4 at around 5am. However, before the officials could reach, around15 residents self-evacuated from the upper floors, according to the report.

Two fire engines, two red rhinos, an ambulance and a support vehicle were immediately rushed to the spot and firefighters started extinguishing the blaze in the unit’s kitchen.

Police said that the cause of fire is still not clear and they have already ordered an investigation into the matter.
