Dubai – Major General Obaid Muhair Bin Suroor, Deputy Director General of General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai and Chairman of Taqdeer Award, announced that the second edition of Taqdeer Award, the world’s first points-based award programme for recognising excellence in labour welfare practices, will be launched next month.

More than 200 companies are expected to participate in the second edition of the award as it extends to include companies in the free zones, in addition to construction sector, said Obaid, while addressing a special ceremony to honour Strategic Partners and 32 Assessors of Taqdeer Award.

Obaid handed over certificates of appreciation to the strategic partners for their role and efforts in the success of the award in the first edition itself.

Addressing the ceremony, Obaid expressed his gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, patron of Taqdeer Award, for his strong support and for launching this award with the aim to building fruitful and successful work partnerships between employers and employees; ensuring their respective rights; and motivating companies to strengthen the pillars of decent living for their workers, taking care of them and protecting their rights.

He also thanked the Strategic Partners for their role in the success of Taqdeer Award, through their commitment to excellence and efforts toward implementing the award criteria with great dedication and transparency.

Obaid said: “This appreciation ceremony is another step on the road to promote mutual cooperation among us, especially after the remarkable success of the Award in its first cycle.

I look forward to contributing together to reach heights that are globally unprecedented on the level of cooperation between the two sides of the production equation, namely employers and employees and making the Taqdeer Award a bigger success as we widen its reach and extend it to include companies in the free zones in its 2nd cycle. I am confident that we will take this responsibility together and write another success story of our Dubai in the field of excellence, innovation and co-existence.
