Sheikh Mohammed meets US defence secretary

ABU DHABI // Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed met the US defence secretary, James Mattis, on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.

Sheikh Mohammed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, wished Mr Mattis success and congratulated him on his appointmented, reported Wam, the state news agency.

They discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between their countries, particularly in military affairs and defence, as well as efforts to fight extremism and terrorism.

Mohammed Al Bowardi, Minister of State for Defence, Mohamed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, under-secretary of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court, Yousef Al Otaiba, UAE Ambassador to the US, and Staff Lt Gen Eisa Al Mazrouei, Armed Forces Deputy Chief of Staff.
