The future of UAE nationals in the Air Navigation Service provision to visit Sheikh Zayed Air Navigation Center during UAE Innovation Week

GCAA is organising a visit of  the future of UAE nationals in the Air Navigation Service provision to Sheikh Zayed Air Navigation Centre from 21^st -24^th November as part of its participation in the UAE innovation week, aiming to enhance the culture of innovation among UAE national students.

H.E Saif Mohamed Al Suwaidi, Director General of GCAA said: “During the innovation week, GCAA has a number of initiatives to encourage and stimulate the UAE aviation industry’s innovation efforts which includes 1st Innovation in Aviation Conference, which aims to gather professionals from various fields of the aviation industry, An underwater recovery of flight data recorders and aircraft parts workshop, in which GCAA is inviting all vital international and regional investigation authorities to cooperate and share their acquired knowledge and expertise for a workshop, An underwater recovery recorders and aircraft parts exercise, Innovation and problem solving; in order to reinforce innovation culture and innovation in aviation diploma course which aims at sharing the challenges with industry professionals and students and brainstorm for solutions.

He added: “the visit of the future of UAE nationals in the Air Navigation Service provision  focuses on providing visitors from students an overview of the past, present and future of air navigation services in the United Arab Emirates to generate interest among the youth to take up aviation professions”.

Ahmed Al Jallaf, Assistant Director of Air Navigation Services said: “GCAA is always keen to promote and incentivize innovation in the industry especially among the youth. Sheikh Zayed Air Navigation Centre is organising the visit of the future UAE air navigation service providers and its target audience is students in both genders in different days  (last year of High school, and first year of colleges/universities). They will have a tour around the facility, and will be briefed how air navigation services are evolved throughout the years. The visits will be up to 4 days from 21^st – 24^th November 2016. Each visit will be about 32 students and divided into 4 groups in order to accommodate them with their questions, training exercises, and to avoid disturbance in the operation room. The tour will cover Air Traffic Management, Communication, Navigation & Surveillance, Aeronautical Information Management and Training departments”.

GCAA has launched the awards scheme to make aviation the key to the country’s success in achieving the dream! Aeronnovation is a GCAA sponsored national award designed to assist, enhance and improve passengers’ experience, by providing innovative services at UAE airports. This scheme will help recognize and provide an opportunity for employees in the aviation sector, in the UAE, to showcase innovations they have designed and implemented.

Additionally, GCAA created innovation framework. This framework allows to instil a culture of innovation within GCAA by conducting workshops, designing training programs, various campaigns and producing a tool that is called brain minors, which allows the staff to submit their innovative proposals to the committee and GCAA innovation board.

Moreover, GCAA  have launched  innovation strategy program through a bilinial words theme to which the entire UAE aviation industry is invited to participate and submit proposals under specific themes.

UAE Innovation Week is a nationwide celebration of innovation for everyone in the UAE in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. It is an initiative that is a consolidated effort by government, the private sector and individuals to create a culture of innovation in the UAE and will witness the announcement of various government initiatives as well as events and activities.
