As counting progresses in the assembly elections round, in which five states, including the most prestigious Uttar Pradesh, are involved, the BJP seems set for an emphatic victory. As latest trends indicate, Yogi Adityanath looks set to stay in power with a solid repeat mandate, while the party has nearly made it to power in Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa.
The big takeaway from the trends so far is the decimation of Congress, which is on its way out in Punjab, where Kejriwal’s AAP has snatched a remarkable victory from the outgoing ruling party.
