As a casual PC gamer, I always found it challenging to find the perfect PC gaming gear that matches my style. That style consists of simple gear that does the job perfectly and doesn’t put a hole in my wallet. Luckily, I think that’s what Logitech is aiming for with the G403 Prodigy wireless mouse.

Design

When you see the G403 Prodigy mouse for the first time, you will realize how simple it is. It sports a matte finish that doesn’t attract fingerprints, along with basic button numbers and layout with the left/right click buttons. There are two buttons on the left side, scroll wheel and a DPI sensitivity shifter buttons and an LED light under the G logo. So based on its design, it barely makes it into gaming gear territory (compared to the other pro mice). The G403 runs smoothly on every surface thanks to its light weight and you’ll find a weight plate in the box to make the mouse feel a bit heavier.

Performance and comfort

Connecting the G403 is very straightforward, and like other Logitech products, this mouse is compatible with Logitech software which means it gives you more options to map your buttons and save them into profiles. You can also change the LED colour, check the remaining battery life and other options as well. Thanks to the Pixart sensor, the G403 is pretty accurate when using the mouse.

Whether you’re playing a FPS game, platforming or even puzzle games, you won’t face any tracking issues that you might face with other mice. When it comes to clicking, I found that the buttons on G403 have a light yet satisfying reaction which means I don’t have to put too much pressure on them. As for battery life, I personally didn’t have an issue with the battery at all. In fact, I found out that it lasts longer than other wireless mice, with up to 5 days of proper gaming sessions and other usage before need a recharge. With long gaming sessions, I found that the G403 doesn’t heat up in my hands even when they get slightly sweaty. And with 4 to 5 gaming sessions I never felt any discomfort while using the G403

The Verdict

With a price range of $69, the G403 mouse is perfect for those who do day to day activities with their PC and/or laptop and casual gamers at the same time. The simple design with the high performance makes the gaming experience smooth without having to worry about any discomfort or overheating issues while using it.
