DUBAI // Charitable work by Al Jalila Foundation has received a boost with a US$1 million donation of software from Microsoft to help its humanitarian and healthcare programmes.
The grant is part of Microsoft’s software donation programme to non-profit organisations to support charities as they work to serve the community and improve lives.
Along with investing in medical education to improve the nation’s treatment capabilities, the foundation has developed a research centre focusing on cancer, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, obesity and mental health.
The software will upgrade the charity’s IT suite with the latest applications and Microsoft tools.
The foundation’s CEO, Dr Abdulkareem Al Olama, said: “Every contribution, whether in the form of donations, expertise or products and services, is critical to our success.
“We are grateful to philanthropists and corporates alike that come together under the shared realisation that today’s hope is tomorrow’s reality.”
Since its establishment in 1998, Microsoft’s software donation programme has provided more than $3.9 billion (Dh14.3bn) of software to more than 60,000 non-profit organisations around the world.
Samer Abu Ltaif, regional general manager at Microsoft Gulf, said: “We greatly admire the work the foundation has done, and continues to do, in the service of community health.
“We have carefully selected the right tools for their operational needs so that they can concentrate on doing what they do best – making lives better.”
