By Marc Frank and Sarah Marsh | HAVANA HAVANA Fidel Castro’s death could give his younger brother, President Raul Castro, more space to pursue economic reforms, but change will also depend on whether U.S. President-elect Donald Trump decides to work with or challenge Cuba’s communist government. Raul Castro has introduced market-oriented reforms in recent years, but the pace of change has been slowed, many Cubans say, by […]

Authored by Paul Craig Roberts, Liberals, progressives, and the left-wing (to the extent that one still exists) are aligning with the corrupt oligarchy against president-elect Trump and the American people. They are busy at work trying to generate hysteria over Trump’s “authoritarian personality and followers.” In other words, the message is: here come the fascists. Liberals and progressives wailed and whined about “an all white male cabinet,” […]

As Wall Street traders departed for Thanksgiving this week, they could celebrate a rare achievement. On Monday and Tuesday, the four most widely cited indices of US stocks — the S&P 500, the Dow Jones Industrial Average, the Nasdaq Composite and the Russell 2000 — hit all-time highs simultaneously. The last time a “grand slam” happened was on New Year’s Eve 1999, at the height of the […]

Not many people know about the second floor café in Building 3 at Emaar Square. Dubbed “the digital café”, it serves great food, great coffee and of course has pretty decent Wi-Fi.  It has a “google” feel to it. But when the history books of the Middle East digital revolution are one day written, chances are the café will get a chapter to itself. For the […]

Craig Timberg from Washington Post must be bored this Thanksgiving, spending his time concocting a rich and imaginative tale of fake news websites swaying the billion dollar Clinton campaign from no brainer win to a horrible loss. Here we are, once again, with the faux claims out of Washpo — spreading their own ironic fake news of Russian hacking conspiracies and a furious — and all of a […]

When you pull out your phone to order an Uber in ten years’ time, you’ll probably get a car that drives itself. Then again, you might not get a car at all. The taxi-hailing app is working on technology that would allow for airborne passenger drones that would take users short distances around cities. Speaking at Recode, Jeff Holden, Uber’s head of product, said that the company […]

Investors are also looking to next year and trying to gauge the extent of further […]
