New Android 7.1.1 Nougat Build Fixes More Google Pixel, Pixel XL Connectivity Problems

Google Pixel and Pixel XL have some connectivity problems, but the Mountain View company is on top of it, bringing a fix by releasing a new Android 7.1.1 Nougat build.

Earlier this month, owners of the Phones by Google reported that the stable version of the latest Android already took care of the LTE Band 4 issues, but that wasn’t the case for everyone.

This time around, the new build named NMF26Q release 6 is coming hot on the heels and is expected to iron out all the cellular wrinkles of Pixel phones on O2, a carrier in the United Kingdom.

Solution To Pixel And Pixel XL Connectivity Problems

As mentioned earlier, the updated Android 7.1.1 Nougat build is designed to focus on resolving connectivity problems, and according to the Android Open Source Project, it particularly addresses the issues with sending and receiving multimedia messages on O2.

“Remove spaces in front of APN types so that telephony can find APNs that can handle a particular type properly,” the description reads.

Android 7.1.1 Nougat NMF26Q Availability

Google didn’t give a solid release date when the update will be pushed to the Pixel and Pixel XL, but it did already publish the factory image and OTA image on the Android Developers website.

That said, those who can’t wait another minute to get the new build of Android 7.1.1 Nougat up and running can go ahead and flash the factory image and sideload the OTA image.

What Else Is New?

Aside from fixing the connectivity problems, the new build didn’t really add anything else to the mix.

That means Pixel and Pixel XL owners who aren’t experiencing any cellular issues don’t really need to install it. On that note, it’s still safe to assume that Google will launch it as an OTA update for everyone in the foreseeable future.

Wrapping Things Up

To boil things down, the new Android 7.1.1 Nougat build NMF26Q is taking care of business and fixing connectivity problems on the Pixel and Pixel XL, and the best part is, the factory image and OTA image are already available for download.
