Sheikh Khalifa, UAE Rulers congratulate president-elect Donald Trump

ABU DHABI // President Sheikh Khalifa congratulated Donald Trump on his election as the 45th president of the United States of America and wished him “success in his future tasks”, the state news agency Wam reported.

In his congratulatory cable, Sheikh Khalifa commended the strategic relations between both countries and peoples. Sheikh Khalifa also highlighted the UAE’s keenness to boost relations in various fields.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, dispatched similar cables to Mr Trump.

Other world leaders – including Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi – congratulated the president-elect after the Republican nominee declared victory early on Wednesday morning.
