Zayed giving convoys deliver medical treatment in Somalia

HARGEISA// Medical aid has been delivered to thousands of children and elderly people in Somalia by the Zayed Giving convoys.

The treatment, was carried out under the supervision of an Emirati-Somali volunteers’ team and is part of a global humanitarian initiative that aims to alleviate the suffering of the needy.

The initiative forms part of 2017 being designated as the Year of giving by Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed, the President and coincides with the ‘For You Somalia Initiative’ to enhance the role played by the UAE and its humanitarian and cultural work to ease the suffering of the Somali people.

Omran Mohammad Abdullah, a member of the board of Dar Al Ber, said the voluntary medical team had succeeded in treating more than 2,000 children during the first two days of the operation of a mobile field hospital.

The humanitarian missions conducted by the Zayed Giving Convoys at Hargeisa have carried out aid missions in various Somali cities over the few past years, benefiting more than half a million children and elderly Somalis.
