The Year of Reading book fair event at Marina Mall features a children’s bedtime storytelling session. Jammie Jam Thursdays is a Reading Tree programme geared towards children ages 4 to 6. It consists of bedtime stories, stretching and yoga, and ends with milk and cookies. Children are invited to wear their pyjamas. Tomorrow from 4pm to 6pm, author Asma Al Kitbi will read her story Penguins. On Saturday, Around the World in Eight Hours will include a series of storytelling sessions that tell a story about a different continent every hour on the hour from noon to 8pm.

Head to the Corniche for the first night of Beats on the Beach, the free Yasalam music festival to celebrate the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The festival kicks off tonight with the top three finalists for the Emerging Talent Competition, who will perform and battle it out to win the title. Plus see Filipino headliner Yeng Constantino, UK hip-hop duo Krept and Konan (Freak of the Week), Emirati Shamma Hamdan (pictured), who performed in the finals of Arabs Got Talent, and last year’s winner of the Emerging Talent Competition, Secrecy Over Supremacy.

See the group exhibition See Saw Seeds at Tashkeel, which is the culmination of a residency exchange programme with CAP (Kobe Studio Y3). It features works by Ruba Al Araji, who documented her daily life in Kobe, Japan; Tulip Hazbar, who produced zines to serve as memory exercises to help her recall her time in Kobe; Aya Sakoda, who conducted tea ceremonies at Tashkeel this month; and Yuki Tsukiyama, who combines his fascination with Dubai’s roundabouts and Arabic script.
