Chief Minister Nitish Kumar May Join BJP Led NDA Next Week Along With JD(U)

By Rahil Nora Chopra

The politics of Bihar is taking a big twist at the moment, and it seems that CM Nitish Kumar has begun to script a new chapter in Bihar politics and he could dump INDIA alliance and rejoin the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic alliance. In this context, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, too, criticized fellow INDIA bloc member by questioning the erstwhile UPA governments at the Centre for not responding to his repeated requests to confer Bharat Ratna to socialist leader Karpoori Thakur. Nitish is also critical of Dynastic politics while praising PM Narendra Modi for his government’s decision to confer country’s highest civilian award to the pioneer of poor and backward politics. Political observers interprete Nitish observations on dynastic politics as an indirect reference to Lalu Prasad Yadav and indicated that Nitish is making all efforts to get closer to BJP. The speculation is rife that Nitish Kumar may dissolve the Bihar assembly and may join the NDA alliance next week. .

RAHUL GANDHI’S YATRA ENTERS BIHAR ON JANUARY 29 AMIDST UNCERTAINTIES

Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra will enter Bihar on January 29 in Kishanganj and cover four districts in three days during which top INDIA bloc leaders may likely to join him for public meetings at Purnia on January 30 . CM Nitish Kumar will not join the Congress Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad and deputy chief minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav may not mark their participation in the event due to the summons issued by the Directorate of Enforcement. ED has summoned Lalu Prasad and Tejashwi Yadav at its Patna office for questioning in the land for jobs case on January 29 and 30. While on the other side , the discussions on the issue of seat sharing for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections within the Mahagathbandhan have also not been progressing, and Nitish Kumar’s party is continuously putting pressure on RJD that the seat-sharing talks should be completed by January end. On the other hand, Lalu Yadav has clearly said he is in no hurry. In fact, the JD(U) will not hold any talks with the grand old party over seat-sharing in Bihar and instead would deal only with Lalu Prasad’s RJD. The JD(U) has said it will not under any condition make any compromise on the 16 seats it had won in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

FORMER TELENGANA CM K CHANDRASEKHAR RAO TALKS OF FEDERAL FRONT AGAIN

The political buzz about the formation of a Federal front has been revived..While discussion of a Federal front has been recurrent, the major difference this time is that TMC chief Mamata Banerjee has ruled out any alliance with Congress in West Bengal. while AAP announced that it will go solo in Punjab for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said at a press conference that AAP will win all the 13 seats in Punjab on its own. Former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) had mooted the idea of forming a non-Congress, non-BJP Federal Front as a national alternative. He has become active again, it is learnt. BRS sources feel there are bright chances that regional parties can come together to set up the Federal Front which may become stronger with non-aligned parties like the YSR Congress, Biju Janata Dal and BSP in case the above alliance happens.

KERALA LDF TO HOLD PROTEST RALLY AGAINST CENTRE ON FEBRUARY 8 IN DELHI

The Left Democratic Front (LDF) government in Kerala, led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, will stage a protest against the Central government at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on February 8.The protest is meant to voice its concerns over the alleged financial neglect of Kerala and other non-BJP-ruled states by the Centre. Chief Minister Vijayan has written to all non-BJP Chief Ministers asking their full support for the protest, pointing concerns over alleged encroachment on state autonomy and financial constraints as imposed by the Centre. But the CPI-M’s INDIA partner, the Congress led UDF has shown reluctance and have bluntly refused to join the protest to be held held by Vijayan namely “Delhi Chalo”.

AAP’S DECISION TO GO SOLO IN PUNJAB IN LOK SABHA POLLS WEAKENS INDIA BLOC

The unity of INDIA opposition bloc has got a jolt with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) declaring that it will contest all 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab. Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has ruled out any alliance with Congress in West Bengal. Both state Congress chiefs — have shown their reluctance and have opposed the alliance at the state level and left no opportunity in hitting out at the state governments. The Congress and AAP are allies in the Opposition INDIA alliance. Delhi Chief Minister and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal approved a proposal by the party’s Punjab unit to fight the general elections alone. The regional parties AAP and TMC, are in no mood to cede ground in their strongholds, especially in the wake of Congress setbacks in the recent Assembly polls. (IPA Service)
