Long-Term UAE Residency Visa for Environmental Champions

abudhabirealestate

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has introduced a new visa program designed to attract and retain individuals who significantly contribute to environmental protection. The 10-year Blue Residency visa aims to solidify the UAE’s commitment to sustainability, designated as a key focus for 2024 by the nation’s president.

Announced during a cabinet meeting led by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, the Blue Residency program targets a broad range of environmental advocates. This encompasses individuals working within the UAE or internationally, including members of NGOs, international organizations, and corporations actively involved in sustainability initiatives. Additionally, distinguished researchers and activists who have garnered global recognition for their environmental efforts are also eligible.

The UAE’s leadership recognizes the increasing interdependence between environmental well-being and economic prosperity. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum emphasized this point, stating, “The sustainability of our economy has become linked to the sustainability of our environment.” The Blue Residency program serves as an incentive for those whose work aligns with the UAE’s environmental goals.

The application process for the Blue Residency visa will be facilitated by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security. Additionally, relevant authorities will have the power to nominate individuals for the long-term residency program.

The introduction of the Blue Residency visa signifies the UAE’s progressive approach towards environmental stewardship. By attracting and retaining world-class environmental specialists, researchers, and advocates, the UAE is well-positioned to accelerate its transition towards a more sustainable future. This initiative is anticipated to contribute to the nation’s environmental progress while bolstering its reputation as a global hub for sustainability efforts.
