ABU DHABI // An online National Day campaign in which Emiratis and expats can express their feelings for the UAE and its flag has generated almost two million responses.

The Raise it High campaign, organised by the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development, was launched at the start of this month to strengthen belonging, loyalty and unity in the country.

It asked social media users to log on to the website uaeflag.ae or tweet with the hashtag #RaiseItHigh and simulate raising the flag to show their love for the country.

Abdulla Al Nuaimi, the ministry’s head of communications, said the campaign had reached all parts of the community. A number of prominent personalities, he said, had supported the drive, increasing its popularity.

“Participation is still open to all citizens and residents until next Monday, so we are calling for all residents of this dear homeland to take part.”

The campaign was launched by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak, Minister of Culture and Development, who was the first to put his name to the electronic flag-raising ceremony.

It has been supported by other ministries, universities, government entities, dignitaries and Rulers.
