Sheikha Jawaher honoured for humanitarian efforts

Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of the Ruler of Sharjah and chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, has been named Golden Humanitarian Personality of the Year by the Watani Emarat Humanitarian Work Award.

The award was given in recognition of her contribution to humanitarian work – locally and internationally – as well as her support for cancer patients and refugee children.

“It is a great honour for anyone of us to have their name attached to an award that commemorates a pillar of humanitarian work and the founding father of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the great leader from whom we learnt the love of humanity, philanthropy and helping the underprivileged,” Sheikha Jawaher said.

The theme of the ceremony, organised by the Watani Al Emarat Foundation under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed, chairman of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, was This is What Sheikh Zayed Loves. The theme was chosen to commemorate the 11th anniversary of the death of the founding President, Sheikh Zayed.
