A video-based social network with categories ranging from motor sports to singing has been launched in Dubai to encourage users to “rate, create and participate” in video content.
HighlyRated.com was created by entrepreneurs Acer Jamal and Stefan Cudby following the rapid rise in demand for online video content.
According to the co-founders, the idea came about when the duo found their friends posting videos on other social networks only to be met with a lack of interest.
As a result, they started HighlyRated.com where videos appear on the site’s homepage, providing the user with higher visibility and connectivity.
“Having both lived in the UAE on & off for over 25 years, we chose to launch our Middle East office here in the UAE due to its reputation as a hub for entrepreneurship,” said Jamal on the launch.
He added the privately owned site will be launching phases 2 and 3 in the upcoming weeks.
