Flex Expands AI Cooling Capabilities With JetCool Acquisition

Flex (NASDAQ: FLEX), a leading global manufacturing and supply chain solutions provider, has officially acquired JetCool Technologies, a Massachusetts-based pioneer in liquid cooling solutions for data centers. The acquisition aligns with Flex’s strategy to enhance its capabilities in managing the growing demands of artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC) workloads, which necessitate advanced thermal management systems.

JetCool Technologies, founded in 2019, has established itself as a leader in microconvective liquid cooling technology, offering products such as fully sealed cold plates and direct liquid-to-chip solutions. These innovations are designed to manage extreme heat levels in high-density computing environments, a critical requirement as AI-driven data centers generate unprecedented thermal loads. JetCool’s systems, capable of cooling racks up to 300 kilowatts and scalable to over two megawatts, provide a significant technological edge in the liquid cooling market.

Flex’s integration of JetCool’s cutting-edge technologies is expected to strengthen its competitive positioning in the global data center infrastructure industry, which is rapidly transitioning from traditional air cooling to more efficient liquid cooling solutions. This shift is driven by the increasing adoption of AI accelerators and other high-performance systems, which demand robust cooling solutions to maintain operational efficiency and reliability.

The acquisition also enhances Flex’s vertical integration capabilities, enabling it to offer a more comprehensive portfolio of power and thermal management solutions. This strategic move positions Flex to address a growing market opportunity, as global investments in AI infrastructure continue to rise. The data center liquid cooling market, a subset of this trend, is projected to see substantial growth, with organizations prioritizing sustainability and efficiency in their operations.

By acquiring JetCool, Flex gains access to proprietary intellectual property and established relationships with key chipmakers and original equipment manufacturers. This acquisition is anticipated to not only expand Flex’s technological capabilities but also create new revenue streams in the fast-evolving data center cooling sector. With this development, Flex aims to cater to hyperscale and enterprise clients grappling with the twin challenges of power density and thermal management in AI-era data centers.
