Vice President Leni Robredo’s trust rating remains to be ‘good’ based on SWS’ classification
MANILA, Philippines – The trust rating for Vice President Leni Robredo remains to be “good” but it significantly lower than her previous ratings, based on the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey.
In the survey first published on BusinessWorld on Tuesday, May 9, the SWS found that 55% of Filipinos have “much trust” for Robredo while 25% have “little trust” for her. Some 20% of the respondents said that they are undecided.
This gives Robredo a trust rating of +30. Still classified as “good” by the polling firm, the Vice President’s recent rating is 15 points below the +45 trust rating she had in December last year.
The SWS classifies the net trust ratings as “excellent” (+70 and above), “very good” (+50 to +69), “good” (+30 tp +49), “moderate” (+10 to +29), “neutral” (+9 to -9), “poor” (-10 to -29), “bad” (-30 to -49), “very bad” (-50 to -69) and “excrable” (-70 and below).
The survey was conducted from March 25 to 28 using face-to-face interviews of 1,200 adult Filipinos across the country. It has a margin of error of ±3 percent.
The survey period covered the onset of impeachment threats against Robredo and at the height of the issue on her controversial video to a United Nations event where she criticized the killings under President Rodrigo Duterte’s war against drugs.
Robredo’s recent slide in ratings also came around a month after the SWS released another survey, saying that her net satisfaction rating dropped. From a +37 net satisfaction ating in December, she is now at +26. (READ: Robredo, Alvarez get highest disapproval, distrust ratings)
“The SWS survey question on trust rating is different from satisfaction rating as the former gauges public trust in a personality as a whole, while the latter asks about public satisfaction with an individual’s performance related to his/her position or duty,” explained the polling firm.
Nationwide decline
The SWS said the major decline in Robredo’s ratings was seen in all regions nationwide where she got a 10-point decline in Metro Manila, balance Luzon (outside Metro Manila), and Visayas, and lost 32 points in Mindanao. (READ: Robredo should avoid message of ‘discord, dissonance’ – analyst)
