FUJAIRAH // Heavy rain lashed eastern parts of the UAE on Saturday afternoon, including Fujairah and Khor Fakkan.

Videos posted by the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology showed motorists navigating wet roads and rains forming waterfalls in valleys.

One video, taken by Abdullah Al Hammadi, showed rainfall in Khor Fakkan’s Wadi Shi.

Another, by Ali Al Zaabi, showed waterfalls forming alongside a motorway in Khor Fakkan, with motorists slowing down to watch.

The centre had warned of towering clouds forming over some eastern and southern areas of the country, causing rainfall and blowing dust or sand with visibility of less than two kilometres in some internal areas.

The weather is forecast to be partly cloudy and hazy over the next three days, with moderate wind and possible rain on Sunday in northern and eastern areas.

The highest temperature recorded in the UAE on Saturday was 43.1ºC in Mezaira at 1.30pm.
