Reports in US media this morning have said the US government is expected to announce a temporary ban on passengers on certain flights originating in the UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, as well other Muslim-majority countries, from bringing laptops, iPads, cameras and most other electronics in carry-on luggage. The Transportation Security Administration is expected to inform airlines of the new measure at 3 am Eastern time Tuesday – 11am UAE time.

In a statement to Arabian Business, Etihad Airways has said there is no change to its current policy.

“The airline’s policies have not changed but we will continue to work closely with the authorities in the USA and here in Abu Dhabi through the officials of the Customs and Border Protection Unit at the airport,” said a spokesperson.

“If the guidance is revised, we will ensure our passengers are updated accordingly as safety and security remain a top priority.”

Emirates spokesperson: “At this time we have not received any notification
of changes to cabin luggage restrictions on US flights. Emirates will comply
with any new operational or regulatory requirements issued by the relevant
authorities.”
