In keeping with the operating system’s “Windows as a service” design philosophy, Windows 10 users will soon receive a third major update. That’s an unprecedented rate of change, especially if you’ve grown accustomed to upgrades that arrive every three years or so. If you have questions about installing (or reinstalling) […]

The future certainly isn’t what it used to be on the dusty patch of land that faces the Siemens HQ at Masdar City. There, on a plot dedicated to experimental projects, a deceptively ordinary-looking four-bedroom villa has been built – and it appears decidedly at odds with Masdar’s earlier “greenprint” for our sustainable urban future. Not only are self-ventilating wind towers and egg-shaped rapid-transport systems noticeable by […]

Kabir Mulchandani is a hands-on developer. While he may not be laying bricks, the SKAI Holdings CEO forwent his air-conditioned office in Downtown Dubai for an often stinking hot construction site on the Palm Jumeirah for the two years that it took for his flagship $1.2 billion hotel to be built. It was only in November that he finally walked offsite when the Viceroy Dubai Palm Jumeirah […]

Hulu Offline Viewing It is not yet clear what kind of work is entailed in offering the […]

Over the past three posts, I have looked at a number of different Linux distributions for various models of the Raspberry Pi – including SUSE/openSUSE, Fedora, Manjaro and Ubuntu MATE, and PiCore Linux. This point in the game is crucial. The player either loses a life upon […]

Revolutions are only relevant until the next revolution comes along. Over the past decade, the smartphone revolution has fundamentally upended daily life. Walk through any public space and you will find people of all backgrounds transfixed by pocket-sized, rectangular obelisks. These little wonder slabs magically connect us to the rest of humanity and are personal windows into the digital ghost dimension that flows beneath civilization’s surface. […]

The plaintiffs argued Apple, which only allows iPhone users to purchase apps through […]

Since the dawn of the century, Java Enterprise Edition (Java EE) has been at the core of many, if not most, enterprise web-centric, service-oriented, cloud-capable computing assemblies. Lately, though, even its proponents have been asking if the venerable framework has outlived its usefulness, and is being supplanted by lighter, nimbler and simpler setups, such as containers, cloud services, or APIs.
