Good morning. Regrets laced with irony Glenn Beck is sorry. He really is. He swears. He’s sort of like Miss Otis in Cole Porter’s oft-recorded 1934 “Miss Otis Regrets” (I’ll take Bette Midler’s version). She “woke up and found that her dream of love was gone, madam.” And, them, “from under her velvet gown, she drew a gun and shot her lover down, madam.” In this case, […]

In 2011, as skincare brand Nivea marked its centenary with a string of parties across the world, Indian billionaire BR Shetty hosted his own private celebration in his extraordinary apartment in Dubai’s Burj Khalifa. No humble pied-à-terre, this pad occupies the entire 100th floor of the tallest building in the world — not bad for the former pharmaceutical salesman, who was one of the first people to […]

An international team of scientists has succeeded in making further improvements to the lifetime of superconducting quantum circuits. An important prerequisite for the realization of high-performance quantum computers is that the stored data should remain intact for as long as possible. The researchers have developed and tested a technique that removes unpaired electrons from the circuits. These are known to shorten the qubit lifetime. (via WSJ)

Submitted by Brandon Smith via Alt-Market.com, I have spent the better part of the last 10 years working diligently to investigate and relate information on economics and geopolitical discourse for the liberty movement. However, long before I delved into these subjects my primary interests of study were the human mind and the human “soul” (yes, I’m using a spiritual term). My fascination with economics and sociopolitical events has […]

Similarly, Samsung, with 2014-15 revenue […]

Relegated to the backbench  of the UK parliament, George Osborne has a great deal more time on his hands after the very public failed Brexit ‘Remain’ campaign. The former British chancellor is using the downtime to investigate why a wave of populist nationalism is currently sweeping across the world – and how it managed to bruise his political career as well as that of former prime minister […]

By Laila Bassam and John Davison | ALEPPO, Syria/BEIRUT ALEPPO, Syria/BEIRUT The Syrian army’s advance in Aleppo slowed on Thursday but a victory was still firmly in sight after President Bashar al-Assad vowed that retaking the city would change the course of the six-year-old war. Russia’s RIA news agency quoted Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov as saying the Syrian army, which has captured territory including Aleppo’s historic […]

Dropbox is often the choice solution for file storage in the cloud, but the problem is that as smartphones proliferate the market, widespread internet coverage is slow to follow suit, so accessing the cloud is not always an easy feat when physically moving from place to place. In this case, cloud-based file storage basically becomes useless on a smartphone. Dropbox previously enabled a solution for this by allowing […]

Since announcing the creation of ProPublica Illinois, president Richard Tofel has heard from people in other states hoping the nonprofit investigative organization will set up shop in their cities, too. And it might. But first, they have to figure out the prairie state. ProPublica announced Wednesday the creation of ProPublica Illinois, the search for a Chicago-based editor and seed funding from the Ford Foundation. Two important things […]

Photo Closer Aroldis Chapman, left, with Starlin Castro, signed with the Yankees for five years, but he can opt out after three. Credit Mike Stobe/Getty Images NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. — You might think a $17.2 million annual salary, a new benchmark for closers, would be enough to get a five-year commitment to the Yankees from Aroldis Chapman. But that is not how free agency works. The Yankees […]

I don’t know if it’s an age thing, but when someone says Chevrolet Malibu, my grey matter automatically conjures up images of a 1968 Chevelle coupé with a burbling 350-cubic-inch V8. But what was reality in the Swinging 60s is no longer true, because the Malibu has had to evolve to survive. The modern-day Malibu has a four-cylinder motor sitting east-west across the engine bay. Said power […]

Submitted by Mike Krieger via Liberty Blitzkrieg blog, This is a remarkable, must watch interview between Fox News’ Tucker Carlson and California Congressman Adam Schiff. More than anything else, the primary takeaway is the completely clownish and pathetic manner in which Mr. Schiff represents himself and his office. The only reply he has to Carlson, which he uses on at least three occasions, is to blurt out […]

For emerging markets, fears over the election of Donald Trump have yet to fully materialise. The prevailing view, says Ousmene Mandeng of EM investment fund New Sparta Asset Management, is that a Trump presidency is “negative for emerging markets”. Investors could foresee some benefit from a supply-side US boom that adds to world aggregate demand — but a less co-operative, protectionist US will have a structural negative […]
