UAE weather: rain falls in Abu Dhabi with more expected across the country

ABU DHABI // Residents of the capital woke up to rain on Tuesday morning as the country’s prayers were answered.

Thunderstorms and strong winds causing blowing dust have been forecast for southeastern areas of the country with Al Ain most likely to experience regular, thundery showers throughout the day.

Abu Dhabi could also catch a heavy shower later in the day with road users urged to plan extra time for journeys during the afternoon rush hour.

Elsewhere in the Emirates partial cloud with heavy rain is expected, according to the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology.

Temperatures along the coast will peak at about 25°C, and fall to around 14°C overnight with winds reaching up to 50 kph at times.

Further inland, temperatures will range between 12°C and 26°C, with highs of 20°C and lows of 7°C expected in the mountains.

Seas will be rough in the Sea of Oman, turning very rough in the Arabian Gulf.

A clearer day with more prolonged spells of sunshine is forecast for Wednesday with occasional patches of rain in the northern and eastern areas of the country.
