If there’s one thing Ubisoft games like doing, besides having you climb radio towers, it’s putting fictional versions of Ubisoft in its games. But with Watch Dogs 2, this little meta touch seems to have Ouroboros-ed itself right back into the real world by teasing what could be two unannounced new Ubi games.
A side mission, titled “Ubistolen”, sees you intercepting the phone call of an in-game Ubisoft San Francisco employee, who mentions previous leaks of Assassin’s Creed games Unity and Syndicate. But he also mentions a less familiar name: Osiris.

The context of the conversation seems to point to the Egypt-set Assassin’s Creed seemingly leaked earlier this year, However, that game was allegedly called Empire – Osiris was at one point the name for a project many assumed was a planned new entry in the Prince of Persia franchise.
It doesn’t end there. The mission sees you breaking into the game’s version of Ubisoft San Fran, and stealing an appropriately watermarked trailer, apparently destined to be announced at E3.
The trailer (below) was uploaded by NeoGAF user FlammableAce, and shows a series of shots of space stations and spacecraft, set to some Firefly-esque Western guitar twangs, but cuts out before any potential title is revealed.
If it is indeed real, this is a previously unheard-of game. A NeoGAF user, TheHollowNight – whose post history has them repeatedly mentioning previous work at Ubisoft – replied, saying:
“oh, huh, finally this is starting to get teased. Knew very little about it just before I left ubi over two years ago and never actually saw any in-game stuff. Interesting! […] Pretty sure it’s real, like I said, I only heard rumblings of a big space game as they keep stuff on tight lockdown even between studios, so my knowledge ends at that sadly.”
Of course, there’s always the chance that both new games are completely made up. Whether this is an inventive tease, or an elaborate joke, it’s worth applauding Ubisoft for the effort, and for having a sense of humour about its own leaky history.
