Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid: fallen soldiers ‘will be forever remembered for their heroism’

The three Emirati soldiers who were killed in Yemen on Saturday will forever be remembered for their heroic actions, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, the Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, said.

“They have written glory and heroism with their blood for the sake of peace and backing trodden people,” said Sheikh Mohammed during visits to the soldier’s families.

“Allah will bless our martyrs whose memories and sacrifices will remain alive among us,” Sheikh Mohammed said.

First corporals Juma Al Hammadi, Khalid Al Shehhi and Fahim Al Habsi were buried on Sunday.

The three died serving in Operation Restoring Hope, the Saudi Arabian-led coalition battling Houthi rebels.

No effort would be spared on the welfare of the men’s families, Sheikh Mohammed added.

Separately, Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, spoke to the family of Cpl Al Hammadi’s family on Monday, the state news agency Wam reported.

The call, Cpl Al Hammadi’s family said, reflected the “cohesion between the leadership and the citizens”.

Other officials to give their condolences on Monday included Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah, who visited the families of Cpl Al Shehhi and Cpl Al Habsi.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, also met the soldiers’ families while Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Ruler of RAK, offered his condolences at the RAK homes of Cpl Al Habsi and Cpl Al Shehhi and led their funeral prayers.
