HONG KONG SAR – Media OutReach Newswire – 31 December 2025 – DL Holdings (1709.HK) announced yesterday that its subsidiary, DL Securities (Hong Kong) Limited (“DL Securities”), has received conditional approval from the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (“SFC”) to provide virtual asset trading services under an omnibus account arrangement. DL Securities has accepted the conditions imposed by the SFC in respect of the upgrade of its Type 1 license to include virtual asset trading services as of 29 December 2025, and will commence virtual asset trading services upon receiving the SFC’s formal approval. This milestone marks DL Securities’ official entry into the small group of comprehensive financial institutions in Hong Kong that simultaneously hold full licenses for both traditional securities and virtual assets.

DL Securities’ formal approval as a licensed virtual asset service provider means that the sizeable digital asset and real-world asset (RWA) tokenization landscape being built by the Group will be delivered to global investors through a compliant, secure, and efficient channel — representing a critical step toward the inclusive-finance vision of “Investing Made Simple.”

Following the license upgrade, DL Securities plans to open omnibus accounts with OSL — one of the SFC-licensed virtual asset trading platforms in Hong Kong — to provide professional investors with secure and efficient execution services, including virtual asset trading and conversion between virtual assets and fiat currencies. The Company will implement stringent Know-Your-Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) procedures, perform continuous monitoring and risk assessment together with the platform, and conduct knowledge assessments for clients to ensure that services operate under the highest compliance standards.

To ensure prudence and regulatory alignment, DL Securities will strictly follow the additional conditions of the SFC and conduct virtual asset transactions via omnibus accounts on SFC-licensed platforms. Meanwhile, services will primarily target professional investor clients within its existing Type 1 regulated activity (securities dealing). This demonstrates that while embracing digital-finance innovation, DL Securities will continue to uphold Hong Kong’s rigorous regulatory framework and remain committed to delivering secure and compliant virtual asset services to high-net-worth clients.

Ahead of many licensed brokers whose roles remain focused only on “distribution,” DL has already established forward-looking strategic layouts in both asset digitalization and digital-asset investment, building a solid asset foundation for future business expansion. In terms of innovative RWA tokenization, the HK$500 million DL Tower located in Hong Kong’s Central district has formally commenced tokenization, with an initial tranche valued at HK$60 million. At the same time, the Group has completed the tokenization plan for its HK$312 million equity interest in the ultra-luxury U.S. real estate project ONE Carmel, aiming to pioneer an innovative shareholder-return mechanism. In addition, the Group has completed tokenization of nearly HK$40 million equity stakes in leading technology companies such as ByteDance and Kraken, enriching the diversity and growth potential of its digital-asset portfolio.

In terms of strategic investment in digital assets, the Group has likewise advanced its deployment. In computing power, nearly ten thousand high-performance mining rigs have been procured, generating close to two Bitcoins per day. The Group has also mapped out an additional HK$800 million digital-asset investment pathway, including HK$560 million into computing power and HK$240 million into tokenized gold assets. Cooperation with digital-asset asset-management platform Antalpha has achieved substantive progress, with an initial allocation of nearly HK$40 million in gold tokens completed. Meanwhile, continued investment in the fintech platform NeuralFin has delivered outstanding results — the platform’s valuation has reached HK$546 million and it has officially initiated preparations for U.S. listing, further strengthening the Group’s integrated digital-finance ecosystem.

Approval of the virtual-asset license provides crucial regulatory support for DL Securities to introduce the Group’s scarce, high-quality virtual-asset and RWA products to the broader investment market in a compliant and secure manner. Going forward, DL Securities will be able to offer professional and institutional investors compliant trading and professional advisory services covering mainstream digital assets such as BTC and ETH, as well as proprietary real-estate and equity-type RWA products. High-quality physical assets and frontier digital assets — once characterized by high thresholds and low liquidity — can now be transformed into fractional, tradeable digital rights, allowing broader groups of investors to share in the dividends of technological and asset-value growth.

Against the backdrop of global asset digitalization, RWA tokenization is becoming a key direction of financial innovation. While Chinese Mainland remains prudent toward such businesses, Hong Kong SAR — guided by a clear, stable, and internationally aligned regulatory framework — is actively assuming the role of a “testing ground.” Seizing this window of opportunity, DL has leveraged its deep understanding of the Hong Kong market, completed its virtual-asset deployment ahead of peers, and successfully obtained a pivotal license. This not only reflects DL’s strategic foresight but also its active participation in building Hong Kong into a global virtual-asset hub — firmly capturing first-mover advantages.

Mr. Andy Chen, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DL Holdings Group, stated:”This approval of our virtual-asset license is a milestone that has come naturally. DL has long ceased to be a bystander waiting for the license—we are already deeply engaged, holding substantial high-quality digital assets and RWAs. The license is a key — it opens the door for us to provide compliant services to investors worldwide. Looking ahead, DL will fully leverage our capital strength, asset reserves, and ecosystem advantages to become a trusted bridge connecting traditional finance and the digital-finance world.”

This license upgrade represents an important milestone in the Group’s deepening digital-finance strategy and embrace of fintech innovation. It is expected not only to significantly enhance business diversification and revenue potential but also to position the Company strongly in the digital-asset markets of Hong Kong and the Asia-Pacific region. Through rigorous compliance frameworks, professional teams, and deep collaboration with licensed platforms, DL Securities will provide professional investors with secure, efficient, and transparent virtual-asset financial services. Following the upgrade of Type 1 to include virtual-asset trading, the upgrade procedure for its Type 4 license (advising on securities) is also currently under final SFC review.

Sony has agreed to acquire an 80 per cent stake in Peanuts Holdings for $457 million, securing control of one of the world’s most recognisable entertainment brands and deepening its push into character-driven film, television, music and consumer products. The transaction sees Sony buy out the stake held by Canada-based WildBrain, while the family of Peanuts creator Charles M Schulz retains the remaining 20 per cent.

The deal hands Sony majority ownership of the Peanuts intellectual property, which includes Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the wider cast that has defined the franchise since its debut in newspapers in 1950. Peanuts Holdings oversees global licensing, publishing and brand management, and its assets include more than 17,000 comic strips as well as extensive animation and merchandising rights.

Executives involved in the transaction said the agreement reflects a shared focus on preserving the spirit of the characters while positioning the brand for new audiences across platforms. Sony has built a broad entertainment ecosystem spanning film studios, music labels, games and consumer electronics, giving it multiple avenues to deploy the Peanuts characters without fragmenting creative control.

Sony deepens its grip on Peanuts

Sony’s leadership described the acquisition as a strategic step rather than a short-term content play. The company already distributes Peanuts animation through Sony Pictures Television and has worked closely with the Schulz family for years on brand stewardship. By consolidating ownership, Sony gains the ability to align long-term creative planning with distribution and merchandising strategies.

The Peanuts franchise continues to generate significant revenue through licensing deals covering toys, apparel, publishing and themed experiences. Industry analysts estimate that global character merchandising remains one of the most resilient segments of the entertainment economy, supported by multigenerational appeal and predictable demand. Peanuts, with its minimalist humour and emotional resonance, is often cited as one of the few properties that can cross age groups and cultures with limited localisation.

WildBrain’s exit reflects a strategic refocus on its own core animation and family content operations. The company had acquired its Peanuts stake through earlier transactions linked to rights management and production, and has since monetised the asset while maintaining creative partnerships. Executives at WildBrain said the sale strengthens its balance sheet and allows greater investment in owned brands and production pipelines.

For the Schulz family, retaining a 20 per cent stake preserves direct influence over creative decisions and brand values. Family representatives have repeatedly stressed the importance of protecting the philosophical tone of the strip, which blends humour with themes of loneliness, perseverance and childhood reflection. Their continued involvement is expected to reassure long-time fans wary of over-commercialisation.

Sony’s broader strategy has increasingly emphasised intellectual property with long shelf lives rather than single-release blockbusters. The company has expanded its catalogue through acquisitions and partnerships that allow stories and characters to move fluidly between cinema, streaming, music, games and live events. Peanuts fits that model, offering episodic storytelling, short-form content and strong visual branding.

The entertainment group also sees opportunities to integrate Peanuts more deeply into its music and gaming divisions. Snoopy and Charlie Brown have already appeared in music collaborations, seasonal broadcasts and digital content, and Sony’s ownership of major music labels and gaming platforms provides scope for cross-promotional projects without reliance on third-party licensing negotiations.

Market observers note that the valuation implies confidence in stable, long-term cash flows rather than explosive growth. Character-driven brands such as Peanuts tend to perform consistently across economic cycles, supported by evergreen demand for family-friendly content and nostalgia-driven consumption. This predictability contrasts with the volatility seen in theatrical box office revenues and subscription-based streaming models.

The acquisition also comes as global media companies reassess how to manage legacy brands in an era dominated by short-form video and algorithm-driven discovery. Sony has indicated it will invest in formats that respect the franchise’s roots while experimenting with new distribution channels, including digital shorts and educational programming.

A public confrontation between cryptocurrency exchange OKX and blockchain project MANTRA has intensified, centring on the migration of the OM token and broader issues of transparency, alleged market manipulation and legal risk as holders await the transition to the upgraded MANTRA token. A token linked to the brand of popular creator-entrepreneur Jimmy Donaldson — known globally as MrBeast — saw price gains of nearly 900 per cent in 24 hours, reflecting growing investor speculation around the newly filed fintech trademark by his corporate group. The rally has thrust the unofficial memecoin spotlit by social-media buzz, despite clear warnings that the currency remains unauthorised and unconnected to any official launch.

The underlying spark appeared after his firm, Beast Holdings, submitted a trademark application in October 2025 for a brand called MrBeast Financial. The filing outlines services ranging from mobile banking, crypto payment processing, exchange and decentralized-trading tools to loans, credit cards and financial-education offerings.

Soon after media and investor attention picked up, the BEAST token’s trading volume soared — a pattern analysts attribute to a mix of hype, confusion with other meme coins referencing MrBeast, and overbought technical indicators that often precede sharp reversals.

Insiders at Beast Industries, including CEO Jeffrey Housenbold, have confirmed that financial-services expansion is part of a broader diversification strategy. At the summit event where the plan was publicly discussed, Housenbold said the company aims to package banking, fintech and creator economy functions under one umbrella — potentially offering fans access to financial services via a recognised brand.

Beast Industries’ market valuation has reportedly reached around US $5 billion. That, combined with MrBeast’s social-media reach, fuels investor optimism that “MrBeast Financial” — if realised — might attract millions of users instantly. This visibility helps explain why speculative investors clung to BEAST token amid the buzz.

Yet experts caution over regulatory and structural hurdles before any fintech project materialises. A US trademark filing does not equate to regulatory clearance; launching banking or crypto-exchange services would require compliance with complex licensing regimes, including money-transmitter permits, anti-money-laundering protocols and possibly oversight by financial authorities.

This is not the first time the MrBeast brand has floated multiple trademarks without launching full-fledged products. Past filings — ranging from burgers to gaming to snacks — have produced mixed results, with some evolving into real ventures and others quietly fading. That casts ambiguity over whether “MrBeast Financial” will ever become a functioning platform.

Despite that, investor appetite for BEAST appears to remain driven by two forces: the fear of missing out characteristic of crypto cycles, and hope that a fintech rollout tied to a globally recognised creator could upend traditional financial models. Until regulators weigh in or Beast Industries announces concrete partnerships, however, BEAST remains a speculative asset — its value tied more to branding buzz than fundamentals.

Shares of Twenty One Capital, the newly public Bitcoin-native company, plunged sharply as trading began on the New York Stock Exchange under ticker “XXI”. The decline, amounting to roughly 24-26%, underscores investor unease even as the firm debuts with substantial holdings — over 43,500 bitcoins, valued at nearly US$4 billion, making it one of the largest corporate Bitcoin treasuries globally.

The decline came just as the firm completed a merger with special-purpose acquisition company Cantor Equity Partners, a process that had secured shareholder approval earlier this month. The combined entity began trading today, marking the formal public debut of Twenty One Capital.

The backers behind Twenty One include stablecoin issuer Tether, trading platform Bitfinex, and investment-holding conglomerate SoftBank Group — with the SPAC sponsored by global financial firm Cantor Fitzgerald.

Leadership under co-founder and CEO Jack Mallers has portrayed Twenty One as more than a treasury — the firm aims to build Bitcoin-centric financial services, capital markets advisory, lending and education operations. The business model seeks to marry a large Bitcoin reserve with recurring-revenue operations, offering investors both exposure to crypto and conventional business growth potential.

Despite the ambitious roadmap and deep institutional backing, investor sentiment appears cautious. The dip in share price comes amid a broader downturn in cryptocurrency valuations; bitcoin itself has fallen more than 28% since hitting a peak in October. That decline has put pressure on companies with large digital-asset treasuries.

Market watchers note that the stumble highlights the risks inherent in combining a speculative asset like bitcoin with public equity. Treasury-centric crypto firms have gained attention in recent months for treating bitcoin as a corporate reserve asset — yet, as volatility returns, their valuations are bearing the brunt. Some analysts argue the drop may force such firms to rethink reliance solely on crypto-treasury value, especially if markets remain turbulent.

For now, Twenty One’s challenge is to reassure shareholders that the business side will grow fast enough to absorb volatility in bitcoin prices. Its future will depend on execution: whether it can build a sustainable loan, advisory or media business around Bitcoin — and whether that strategy can hold up even if crypto markets remain unpredictable.

Swiss-registered fintech firm TrustLinq has rolled out a crypto-to-fiat payment platform designed to let holders of digital currencies send real-world payments in over 70 local currencies — without requiring a bank account. Users can fund transfers from holdings of cryptocurrencies such as USDT, USDC and EURC; the platform then converts and routes the funds through traditional banking rails, so recipients receive standard fiat via bank transfer.

The push addresses a long-standing barrier in the adoption of cryptocurrencies: while there are more than 580 million crypto users globally, under 0.005 percent of businesses currently accept digital currencies directly. As a result, many holders have struggled to use their crypto for everyday needs — rent, supplier bills, international transfers, or payroll. TrustLinq aims to bridge that divide.

Unlike traditional crypto payment gateways that require merchants to accept crypto directly, TrustLinq enables users to pay any individual or business worldwide, using crypto funds while sending fiat to the recipient’s bank account. Recipients do not need a digital wallet or to handle crypto; they receive funds just like a regular bank transfer.

For businesses — especially those operating across borders — the implications are significant. Vendors, employees, contractors, or suppliers can be paid in their local currency without the hassle of crypto-to-fiat conversion or the need for them to manage digital assets. In effect, TrustLinq offers companies a way to manage vendor payments, international payroll, and operational expenses via crypto without forcing counterparties into crypto adoption.

From a regulatory standpoint, TrustLinq operates under Swiss oversight, providing bank-grade compliance and secure automation. That regulatory clarity may matter more than ever as regulatory landscapes shift across regions for crypto payments.

Observers in the payments industry see TrustLinq’s entry as part of a larger pattern: financial firms and fintech companies are increasingly building infrastructure to integrate digital assets with traditional finance. Crypto payment solutions are evolving beyond speculative trading or niche peer-to-peer transfers; they are morphing into tools that can plug directly into legacy banking systems and everyday commerce.

Still, hurdles remain. While TrustLinq enables individuals to pay in fiat using crypto, global compliance regimes differ widely. Some jurisdictions continue to impose restrictions on crypto-to-fiat transfers, stablecoin use, or crypto payments — a fragmentation that can hinder adoption. Furthermore, currency volatility may still pose a concern for users who bring in crypto at one exchange rate and transfer to fiats pegged to different currencies. Analysts caution that until broader regulatory clarity and merchant acceptance emerges, such payment platforms may remain niches rather than mainstream alternatives.

TrustLinq has announced that it plans to launch its own debit cards in the first quarter of 2026, which could further expand usability for holders wanting to pay with crypto-backed fiat in everyday contexts — physical stores, online purchases, subscription services.

Global corporate crypto holdings took a dramatic leap as Strategy disclosed acquiring 10,624 more bitcoins between 1 and 7 December 2025, at an average price of $90,615 per coin. That purchase—amounting to about $962.7 million—raises the firm’s total holdings to 660,624 BTC, equivalent to roughly 3 % of the entire Bitcoin supply. The acquisition was funded primarily through the company’s at-the-market equity programme. According to the company’s […]

Alpha Dhabi Holding moved to reassure investors with confirmation of a new three-year dividend framework and a parallel plan to repurchase a portion of its shares, signalling a strategic effort to sustain value creation across its portfolio. The Abu Dhabi-listed conglomerate said the policy is designed to provide predictable returns while supporting the group’s long-term expansion. The company said the proposed framework targets annual dividends of AED […]
