Vanguard, the formidable asset manager overseeing over $9 trillion in assets, is reported to be preparing to permit its U. S. brokerage clients access to crypto exchange-traded funds offered by third parties, marking a notable departure from its previously cautious stance.

According to insiders, the firm has initiated internal evaluations and external consultations as demand from clients for exposure to digital assets has intensified. The move would not involve Vanguard issuing its own crypto products, but rather offering access to selected ETFs managed by external providers.

Vanguard’s transformation of its policy comes amid evolving regulatory signals. The Securities and Exchange Commission has recently approved a generic listing standard designed to streamline the approval process for new ETFs, including those that track cryptocurrencies. That change is credited with spurring wider institutional interest in crypto products.

At the centre of speculation is Vanguard’s CEO, Salim Ramji, who played a pivotal role in the development of BlackRock’s Bitcoin ETF. While Ramji has publicly reiterated that Vanguard has no immediate plans to launch proprietary crypto products, his background has heightened expectations that the firm’s strategic direction may be shifting.

Industry observers note that Vanguard’s entry into the crypto ETF space could provoke competitive pressures. Firms such as BlackRock and Fidelity have already embraced digital asset offerings; BlackRock’s Bitcoin ETF has attracted substantial inflows since its launch. This push by Vanguard suggests it is seeking to retain client engagement and not fall behind in the financial innovation race.

Despite momentum, significant uncertainties remain about the roadmap. There is currently no public timeline for the rollout, no confirmation on which crypto ETFs may be made available, and little clarity on eligibility criteria or platform integration. Some sources caution that regulatory, operational and compliance hurdles could delay or scale back the plans.

Sceptics argue that Vanguard’s caution is warranted. The inherent volatility of crypto markets, ongoing regulatory scrutiny, and custody risks for digital assets represent real challenges. For clients accustomed to Vanguard’s historically conservative and low-cost approach, the shift may raise questions about risk exposure and fee structures.

Still, proponents contend that the move is a logical evolution. With growing client appetite for digital exposure and a maturing ecosystem of regulated crypto products, access via established financial infrastructure may help reduce barriers and integrate crypto more deeply into mainstream investing.

Metaplanet has added 5,268 Bitcoin to its treasury, lifting its total holdings to 30,823 BTC—a stash now worth roughly $3.5 billion. The move marks another aggressive step in the company’s ambition to dominate corporate Bitcoin accumulation.

The Tokyo-listed firm disclosed the latest purchase via its analytics platform, citing an average cost per coin in the range of $116,800. With this transaction, Metaplanet fortifies its position among the largest public Bitcoin treasuries globally. The company has previously disclosed a 5,419-coin buy earlier in September.

Metaplanet’s strategy, initiated in 2024 when it shifted from hotel and media operations into a Bitcoin-heavy treasury model, has relied heavily on capital raises and issuance of equity linked instruments. In early September, shareholders green-lit a plan to issue up to 550 million new shares overseas—raising about ¥130.3 billion —with proceeds earmarked in part for further BTC accumulation. Eric Trump, who serves on Metaplanet’s advisory board, was present at the meeting and took part in a fireside chat session.

The company projects bold long-term goals: by 2026, it aims to reach 100,000 BTC, and by late 2027, to hold 210,000—about 1 percent of total Bitcoin supply.

Despite its crypto focus, Metaplanet’s stock performance has been volatile. Since mid-June, the share price has fallen sharply—losing over 50 percent—reflecting investor concern over dilution risk, weak revenue fundamentals, and compressed valuation premiums compared to its Bitcoin holdings.

Analysts caution that Metaplanet’s heavily leveraged approach leaves it vulnerable. Should Bitcoin’s price fall, the firm could see large mark‐to-market losses or face funding constraints if markets turn against inflows. Still, Metaplanet argues its “Bitcoin yield” metric—growth in BTC per share—aligns incentives for equity holders to back continued accumulation.

The company also is diversifying its strategy. It has launched a U. S.-based subsidiary in Miami to manage derivatives and income-generation business lines, and is developing digital platforms rooted in Bitcoin.

The city-state’s employers have set a striking pace as they head into the final quarter of 2025: a Net Employment Outlook of 45 per cent signals that nearly three in five organisations expect to expand their workforces. That optimism comes amid shifting global headwinds, structural reforms, and a rising demand for specialised talent.

The ManpowerGroup Employment Outlook Survey canvassed 525 UAE employers across sectors to assess hiring intentions. A positive balance of 45 per cent means that those anticipating workforce increases outnumber those expecting reductions by nearly half. This figure places the UAE among the world’s more aggressive labour markets, especially given challenges such as global trade uncertainty, rising automation, and fluctuating commodity prices.

This projected hiring boom is not evenly distributed. The strongest demand lies in transport, logistics and automotive, energy and utilities, and consumer goods and services. These sectors appear ready to leverage infrastructure projects, green energy transitions, and regional consumption growth. Meanwhile, the information technology sector is showing solid demand at +48 per cent, reflecting sustained digital transformation pushes.

Driving much of this confidence is corporate expansion: 40 per cent of participating firms cited scaling operations as their primary reason for hiring. Another 28 per cent pointed to pivoting business models and growth into new areas. In addition, nearly 30 per cent of respondents acknowledged that talent shortages—and competition for specialised skills—are influencing recruitment strategies.

Yet the buoyant sentiment is tempered by caution. Roughly 10 per cent of employers still expect to trim staff, particularly in roles vulnerable to automation or in sectors facing structural disruption. Around 15 per cent responded that they will hold staffing constant, prioritising internal upskilling over external recruitment. In interviews, some HR executives noted that while they want to hire aggressively, wage inflation, geopolitical uncertainty, and regulatory shifts may prompt them to phase recruitment over several quarters.

Regional and global context strengthens the UAE’s position. In the third quarter of 2025, the UAE recorded a world-leading NEO of +48 per cent. That marked a standout alignment with its long-term growth strategy, and the Q4 figure of +45 per cent suggests sustained momentum rather than a cyclical spike. Elsewhere, the global average NEO stood at +24 per cent during Q3 — placing the UAE’s outlook nearly double the global benchmark.

Analysts view this hiring optimism as part of a broader strategy to reposition the UAE as a knowledge-economy hub. Recent government initiatives have focused on advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence, sustainability, and logistics corridors. These programs have triggered demand not only for engineers and technicians but also for data scientists, sustainability consultants, and cross-disciplinary professionals. In one corporates sector round-table, a senior UAE CEO observed that “the competition for deep tech talent is global, and we must offer not just pay but opportunity, stability and a pathway for growth.”

Labour authorities are also aligning policies with employer needs. New visa frameworks, targeted Emiratisation programmes, and regulatory incentives for R&D investment are being synchronized with workforce forecasts. At the same time, the UAE’s PMI for non-oil activity has held above the expansion threshold, underlining demand growth across private sectors and supporting hiring intent.

However, potential headwinds remain significant. Global supply chain disruptions, slowing demand in key export markets, and monetary tightening in major economies could dampen growth. Employers may delay or scale back hiring plans if external pressures intensify. Some labour economists warn of mismatches between skills supplied locally and those demanded, especially in emerging fields.

Matein Khalid Wall Street’s strong bid is skating on macro thin ice as a government shutdown that reflects the toxic polarization in Congress looms. The Central Bank of the UAE and Dubai Finance today formalised an agreement to deepen collaboration in the development of the country’s capital markets, enabling Dubai to draw on the central bank’s infrastructure to issue dirham-denominated government bonds.

Khaled Mohamed Balama, Governor of the CBUAE, and Abdulrahman Saleh Al Saleh, Director-General of Dubai’s Department of Finance, signed the Memorandum of Understanding in Abu Dhabi before senior officials and assistant governors.

Under the pact, Dubai Finance gains access to the central bank’s systems and platforms to support bond issuance, while both parties commit to joint efforts in fintech, payment systems, and digital currency development. The agreement further encompasses capacity building, knowledge exchange and coordination in regulatory and infrastructural domains.

Balama described the partnership as “an important step toward advancing the country’s financial markets, supporting their growth, and ensuring their readiness to adapt to future changes.” He affirmed that the nation’s leadership is focused on promoting innovation and digitisation in financial services to boost private-sector participation and investor confidence.

Al Saleh said the MoU would help diversify the UAE’s investment tools and align capital market expansion with the vision of the country’s leadership. He emphasised the importance of collaboration with regulatory bodies at both federal and local levels to elevate the nation’s reputation as an investment hub.

The MoU aligns with broader moves by the central bank in strengthening financial infrastructure and market regulation. The central bank has recently advanced its “Financial Infrastructure Transformation” programme, which includes the rollout of the domestic card scheme Jaywan and development of a Central Bank Digital Currency, known as the Digital Dirham. The institution also introduced regulations on Open Finance platforms and has conducted stress tests affirming resilience in the banking sector under diverse macroeconomic pressures.

The UAE’s push to build robust capital markets fits into a regional trend of using debt instruments to broaden funding sources beyond oil and real estate. In December 2024, the CBUAE signed an MoU with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority to enhance cross-border debt issuance and settlement between the UAE and Asia, aiming to foster deeper connectivity between debt markets.

Analysts see the newly inked agreement as a mechanism to centralise the infrastructure layer of government debt issuance under one roof, avoiding fragmentation across emirates. Doing so could lower costs, standardise procedures, and deepen liquidity in domestic markets. It may also foster greater issuance activity from state and municipal entities.

QNB Group has shifted its US dollar corporate payment operations in Qatar onto JPMorgan’s blockchain-based platform, enabling business clients to execute dollar payments within minutes, around the clock. The move marks a notable milestone in the uptake of decentralised ledger technology in mainstream banking.

The Doha-based lender will use JPMorgan’s Kinexys Digital Payments system to facilitate 24/7 USD transfers for its corporate clientele. Traditional banking rails, by contrast, typically operate during business days and may take several days to complete a transfer. The QNB–JPMorgan tie-up underscores the intensifying push by major financial institutions to modernise payment infrastructure.

Kinexys, previously known as JPMorgan’s payments and tokenisation arm, has seen growing traction across the Middle East and North Africa. QNB became one of the first banks in the region to adopt the system, following Saudi National Bank’s earlier deployment. The platform allows programmable payments, enabling banks to embed automated rules or compliance checks directly into settlement flows.

Under its new arrangement, QNB clients in Qatar will now enjoy significantly improved settlement speed and liquidity management. Instead of waiting for traditional cut-off windows, funds flow without interruption, reducing operational risk and improving cash-flow efficiency. Internally, the system allows QNB to manage its USD liquidity more dynamically across its branches and treasury operations.

JPMorgan’s wider strategy with Kinexys spans tokenised deposit accounts, cross-border settlements, and programmable payment capability. Earlier this year, the firm announced a GBP-denominated blockchain deposit offering, complementing its USD tokenisation efforts. JPMorgan has also piloted USD deposit tokens built on its Base blockchain in collaboration with institutional clients.

Across the MENA region, several leading banks have gone live on Kinexys. Commercial Bank of Dubai, First Abu Dhabi Bank and Bank ABC are among the adopters. Saudi National Bank currently uses the system for its U. S. dollar-denominated flows and plans to extend the infrastructure to large corporates in its domestic market.

Digital asset treasury firms, which raise capital to accumulate crypto assets on their balance sheets, are being reimagined by market analysts as possible long-term powerhouses akin to Berkshire Hathaway. Ryan Watkins, co-founder of Syncracy Capital, argues that the more successful of these firms—currently seen by many as speculative vehicles—could evolve into permanent capital engines that deploy resources, build operating businesses, and influence ecosystem governance.

These treasury firms already collectively manage over $105 billion in crypto holdings, across assets such as Bitcoin, Ethereum and others. Watkins emphasises that the largest winners will be those that transition from mere accumulation into diversified operations across staking, lending, infrastructure and enterprise investment.

The model diverges from traditional crypto “hoard and hope” strategies. Rather than simply acting as passive holders, Watkins projects that top-tier treasury companies will adopt a hybrid role: asset manager, growth investor, and operational builder. In his view, they may eventually resemble conglomerates that deploy capital into promising ventures, fund ecosystem projects, and re-invest profits strategically.

Some firms already reflect parts of this shift. MicroStrategy remains a benchmark, having raised capital through equity and convertible debt to purchase Bitcoin. As of mid-2025, dozens of public and private entities have announced intentions to create treasury arms or adopt treasury strategies. Firms are expanding beyond Bitcoin into Ethereum, Solana and other networks, seeking yield diversification.

A newly announced example is AVAX One, backed by Anthony Scaramucci and Hivemind Capital, which aims to raise $550 million to acquire AVAX tokens and expand into fintech and insurance acquisitions on the Avalanche network. This signals growing appetite for treasury firms to enter adjacent sectors and integrate vertically.

At the same time, regulatory and ethical challenges loom. Critics warn that some treasury firms may disguise self-dealing as capital deployment, favouring projects in which insiders hold undue influence. Without rigorous governance, the line between strategic investment and insider enrichment can blur.

Regulatory scrutiny is also emerging: authorities like the U. S. Securities and Exchange Commission and FINRA have initiated probes into suspicious trading around announcements by publicly traded firms adopting crypto treasury plans, seeking to determine whether some investors benefitted from non-public disclosures. Meanwhile, treasury entities face pressure to provide transparency in reserves and audit practices, especially as they reassure investors about balance sheet integrity.

Three companies—The Littlestone Company, Alpha Ledger Technologies and Celadon Capital Markets—have launched a joint initiative to convert up to $1 billion of essential housing projects into blockchain-based tokens on the Solana network. The programme aims to democratise real estate investment by enabling fractional ownership, automated income flows and secondary market trading.

At the core of the effort, Littlestone brings decades of housing development experience, particularly in underserved communities. Alpha Ledger will supply the tokenisation infrastructure, mapping property ownership rights into programmable digital assets. Celadon will manage legal structuring, compliance and investor onboarding. Their first focus is on multifamily housing in Texas, with plans to scale thereafter.

Littlestone’s CEO, Peter Wasserman, frames the collaboration as a way to “accelerate delivery of sustainable, high-quality communities for workforce families and active adults 55+,” stressing that tokenisation can reduce capital constraints while broadening investor participation. Celadon’s Armand Pastine says the partnership targets the so-called “Missing Middle”—teachers, nurses and seniors underserved by conventional housing finance—and intends to unlock that segment through blockchain.

Solana’s mechanics—fast settlement, low fees and built-in tooling for real-world assets—make it a natural fit for such endeavours. The network already supports token extensions, permissioned environments and “transfer hooks” to embed KYC/AML rules directly into on-chain logic. Solana itself promotes the concept of real-world assets onchain, arguing that its architecture enables instant, cross-border settlement and programmable compliance at scale.

This project is not an outlier. The asset tokenisation sector has seen explosive growth in 2025, with estimates for real-world asset capital on chain rising from under $10 billion at the year’s start to over $60 billion by mid-year. The rise reflects growing institutional and retail demand, as well as regulatory openings. Meanwhile, major players like Securitize are expanding their issuance and trading platforms for tokenised securities, and firms such as Tokeny, ADDX and Ondo are becoming increasingly active in the tokenisation ecosystem.

Still, the initiative faces structural challenges. Regulatory uncertainty over securities laws, valuation complexities, liquidity concerns and investor protection remain key hurdles. The need to map off-chain legal claims into on-chain expression requires careful design, often involving special purpose vehicles or trust structures. Token liquidity may rely on secondary markets that are still nascent.

Ethereum co-founder Jeffrey Wilcke has moved 1,500 ETH into the Kraken exchange, sparking debate over whether he plans further liquidations as the market faces renewed pressure. The transfer coincided with Ether’s slide below the $4,000 threshold.

Wilcke’s latest deposit comes less than a month after he offloaded ETH worth approximately $9 million, according to on-chain analytics. His known holdings still exceed 90,000 ETH, translating to a valuation above $350 million at current market rates.

Moving cryptocurrency into exchange wallets often suggests intent to sell, but it doesn’t guarantee action. Observers note this transaction fits Wilcke’s pattern of prior transfers, including earlier large deposits of 105,737 ETH and 9,840 ETH to Kraken. He has also reshuffled holdings across multiple wallets in the past — a tactic that clouds the true motive.

Ether’s price has lost ground recently, breaking technical support at $4,000. That drop has intensified concerns about downward momentum, amid warnings that failure to reclaim $4,841 could trigger a deeper pullback toward $2,750.

Yet the broader market tells a mixed story. Over the past two days, at least 15 whale wallets have acquired more than 406,000 ETH, sourcing tokens from major platforms including Kraken, Galaxy Digital, BitGo, and FalconX. That level of accumulation suggests some large holders see current prices as a buying opportunity.

The timing of Wilcke’s transfer coincided with Kraken’s own developments: the exchange announced a $500 million funding round, valuing it at $15 billion and laying groundwork for a prospective 2026 IPO. Some analysts have argued that Wilcke’s move could be a strategic internal adjustment ahead of market shifts rather than a direct sale.

Wilcke’s role in the Ethereum project dates back to its earliest years, notably in the development of Geth, the Go-based client now central to the network’s operations. Although he stepped back from core Ethereum development in 2018, he later founded Grid Games, a venture into online gaming. His pattern of wallet activity in recent years has drawn attention — transfers of tens or hundreds of thousands of ETH have periodically triggered speculation.
