Infosys Ltd cleared a share buyback plan worth ₹18,000 crore, its biggest to date, offering ₹1,800 per share under a tender‐route offer. The price represents a 19% premium over closing levels on the BSE and NSE.

The company intends to repurchase roughly 10 crore shares, amounting to about 2.41% of its equity. Approval came through a board resolution disclosed in regulatory filings.

Infosys’s share price had been under pressure, falling more than 1% on the day prior. The buyback announcement triggered mixed reactions: U. S.‐listed ADS shares edged up marginally, while shares in Mumbai closed lower, reflecting investor caution.

Company financials show free cash flow at ₹7,533 crore for the quarter ending 30 June, down about 17.7% year-on-year, though still exceeding net profit by a small margin. The firm held cash and investments totalling ₹45,204 crore at that date.

Analysts view the buyback as a signal of confidence in long-term cash flows, but also warn that slowing revenue growth in some verticals could weigh on future performance. The move follows pressure from investors for IT companies to not just return capital but also step up investments in cloud, AI, and product development.

SwissBorg has lost about $41 million worth of Solana after a breach in a third-party API linked to its staking partner Kiln, which facilitated its SOL Earn programme. The incident affected fewer than 1% of users and represented roughly 2% of SwissBorg’s total assets under management.

The vulnerability originated in Kiln’s API — the software interface SwissBorg uses to communicate with Solana’s staking network. By exploiting that interface, attackers manipulated staking requests tied to the SOL Earn product and diverted approximately 192,600 SOL to an external wallet. SwissBorg and Kiln stated that the main SwissBorg app and all other Earn products remain secure. SwissBorg has paused Solana staking transactions while investigations continue.

SwissBorg CEO Cyrus Fazel described the event as “a bad day,” assuring customers that operations remain stable. The company pledged to reimburse all affected users, confirmed it has sufficient treasury reserves to cover losses, and is working with law enforcement, white-hat hackers, and security firms to block stolen transactions and trace funds. Some transfers have already been intercepted, according to its statement.

Kiln acknowledged that the breach involved “unauthorised access to a wallet used for staking operations.” SwissBorg and Kiln jointly activated their incident response protocols upon detection, aiming to contain the damage.

Industry experts flag this as yet another example of how dependence on external service providers exposes crypto platforms to infrastructure-level risk. In recent years, comparable API and smart-contract vulnerabilities have been exploited across the sector, prompting calls for more rigorous audits and redundancy in trust relationships.

A Delhi court barred several journalists and activists from publishing or circulating unverified, allegedly defamatory material about Adani Enterprises Ltd, also ordering the removal of existing posts within strict timeframes while safeguarding fair reporting—Adani Enterprises Secures Ex Parte Injunction Against Journalists, Activists.

A bench presided over by Senior Civil Judge Anuj Kumar Singh passed an ex parte interim order on Saturday, 6 September 2025, directing defendants—including Paranjoy Guha Thakurta, Ravi Nair, Abir Dasgupta, Ayaskanta Das, Ayush Joshi and certain organisations—to expunge allegedly defamatory material from their websites, articles and social media posts. If the removal by the authors proved infeasible, intermediaries were instructed to disable access within 36 hours pursuant to the Information Technology Rules. The order also restrained publication or dissemination of further unverified content until the next hearing on 9 October 2025.

The court accepted AEL’s submission that coordinated publications on platforms such as paranjoy. in, adaniwatch. org and adanifiles. com. au had inflicted serious reputational damage, financial losses to stakeholders and harm to India’s global brand equity, further alleging alignment with “anti-India interests” that disrupted critical infrastructure and energy projects, including Australian operations. Citing the Hindenburg Research report of 2023, which had alleged massive stock manipulation and accounting fraud causing a collapse in market value, AEL argued the repeated references by defendants exacerbated investor anxiety and project delays.

Judge Singh ruled the plaintiff had satisfied the conventional three-part test for interim relief—presenting a prima facie case, showing balance of convenience in its favour and establishing risk of irreparable harm. At the same time, he acknowledged constitutional free-speech guarantees, declining to impose a blanket ban on fair, verified, and substantiated reporting, thus maintaining space for responsible journalism.

AEL’s counsel, Advocate Vijay Aggarwal, emphasised that unrestrained publication of malicious allegations risked undermining investor confidence, delaying infrastructure timelines, and tarnishing both the firm’s and the nation’s image. The court responded by allowing AEL to flag further problematic links for takedown, while intermediaries such as Google, YouTube and X were enjoined to act swiftly on notifications.

The order, codenamed CS SCJ 1066/2025, also stipulates procedural directives for service of summons via post, email and WhatsApp, with the next hearing scheduled for 9 October 2025.

Schneider Electric has declared its newly inaugurated Dubai office, The NEST, carbon neutral just three months after opening, marking a bold leap in sustainable workplace design and operational innovation.

The NEST, spanning over 10,000 sqm and accommodating more than 1,000 staff, forms the vanguard of the company’s global Impact Buildings Program. Within this smart facility—now carbon-neutral in three months—EcoStruxure™ technologies interlock digital energy management, automation, and operational analytics to deliver exceptional environmental and user performance.

The building reduces energy consumption by 37 percent relative to Schneider Electric’s previous Dubai location, yielding annual cuts of approximately 572 metric tons of CO₂—equivalent to the yearly electricity usage of some 77 homes.

In recognition of its digital and sustainable credentials, The NEST earned a perfect WiredScore SmartScore Platinum rating, with top marks in user functionality, technological foundation, and innovation. It stands poised to achieve LEED ID+C Platinum and WELL Equity certifications.

Designed around four guiding principles—sustainability, resilience, efficiency, and a people-centric ethos—the facility integrates a micro-grid, digital twin systems, AI-driven HVAC and occupancy analytics, a cybersecure edge data centre, and abundant daylighting and indoor air-quality features.

The NEST also houses Dubai’s first Schneider Electric Global Innovation Hub and a dedicated Training Centre to upskill regional professionals and youth in clean energy and smart building solutions.

“This building exemplifies how digitisation and electrification can uplift sustainability in the built environment,” said the company’s Zone President for the Middle East and Africa, underscoring how The NEST is more than a building… it is a living example of smart infrastructure in action.

The achievement reflects alignment with broader national ambitions such as the UAE Net Zero by 2050 strategic initiative and Dubai’s Economic Agenda D33, reinforcing The NEST’s status as a blueprint for high-performance, low-carbon commercial environments.

Plans are in motion to expand the Impact Buildings Program globally—encompassing new constructions and retrofitting existing facilities over the next 18 months—to replicate the model of adaptive, people-centred, low-carbon buildings across Schneider Electric’s commercial real estate portfolio.

Matein Khalid My readers and friends know that I have been a boring perma-bull on gold since early 2024, when it became obvious that the People’s Bank of China was accumulating gold bullions as a hedge against an overvalued King Dollar and a capricious White House, which had just seized $300 billion in Russian central bank reserves to punish Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. The bullish gold trade […]

Markets are sending urgent signals. Gold has burst above $3,600 an ounce, a record that reflects both anticipation of rate cuts and a broader scramble for safety. Treasury yields have swung sharply, with shorter maturities pulled lower by expectations of central bank easing while long-dated bonds creep toward multi-year highs, and across equities, momentum has become fragmented, with volatility rising around political headlines and economic uncertainty. These […]

Oil prices edged higher after OPEC+ approved a modest production increase of 137,000 barrels per day from October, signalling a deliberate shift from propping up prices to recapturing market share even as the possibility of oversupply looms.

A rapid, 11-minute virtual meeting resulted in the decision by eight key alliance members to introduce a restrained output lift, clearly OPEC+ inches production upward amid surplus risk. That modest hike marks the start of unwinding an additional tranche of voluntary cuts—around 1.65 million barrels per day—that were originally scheduled to remain in place until the end of 2026.

Brent crude gained approximately 34 cents to trade at $65.84 per barrel, while U. S. West Texas Intermediate rose about 30 cents to $62.17 a barrel, trimming losses incurred last week following a soft U. S. jobs report. Analysts see the price rebound as partly driven by relief over the modest hike and technical factors, alongside concerns that looming U. S. sanctions on Russian oil may curb supply.

OPEC+ members—including Saudi Arabia, Russia and several Gulf producers—have been gradually rolling back earlier cuts since April, with previous monthly increases topping 550,000 barrels. This latest move, while smaller in volume, is seen as a strategic signal that the group is prioritising global market positioning over immediate price support. Jorge Leon of Rystad Energy commented, “The barrels may be small, but the message is big,” underscoring the symbolic weight of the alliance’s decision.

Not all members can raise output equally—only Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have sufficient spare capacity to make notable additions. Others face physical and contractual limitations to boost deliveries.

Despite the gradual rollback of cuts, analysts warn that the ramp-up, combined with rising non-OPEC+ output, could push the oil market into surplus territory by early 2026. Goldman Sachs, while holding its 2025 price forecast steady, flagged muted price risks for 2026, with expected average Brent and WTI prices in the mid-$50s.

The alliance has reaffirmed its flexibility to adjust future output, including the ability to accelerate, pause or even reverse course as market conditions evolve. Members will meet again on 5 October to review developments and determine whether to extend or amend the output ramp.
