CapBridge Pte Ltd has teamed up with Sun Life Singapore to distribute SunBrilliance insurance solutions to high-net-worth individuals and family offices, strengthening its push beyond private-market investments into wealth protection and succession planning.

The collaboration gives CapBridge clients access to Sun Life Singapore’s SunBrilliance Indexed Universal Life II, a permanent life insurance product designed for families seeking cross-border wealth transfer, estate liquidity and long-term legacy planning. The product is targeted at global high-net-worth clients who want life cover alongside cash-value growth linked to market performance, while retaining protection against negative index returns.

CapBridge, a Singapore-headquartered digital investment platform and member of FOMO Group, has been expanding its wealth offering for mass affluent investors, HNWIs and institutional clients. Its platform provides access to private and public market opportunities, including funds, digital asset funds, stocks, bonds and equities, while also arranging life insurance products through licensed partners. The company is regulated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore and holds a capital markets services licence for dealing in capital market products and providing custodian services.

Sun Life Singapore, formally Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada Singapore Branch, is part of Sun Life Financial Inc., the Canada-based financial services group listed on the Toronto, New York and Philippine stock exchanges under the ticker symbol SLF. The Singapore branch focuses on wealth preservation, growth and transfer solutions for affluent and high-net-worth clients, positioning the city-state as a core hub for its Asian insurance and legacy planning business.

SunBrilliance Indexed Universal Life II is denominated in US dollars and offers whole-life coverage with a minimum sum assured of US$500,000. The product allows policyholders to allocate premiums to indexed and fixed accounts, with indexed returns linked to the S&P 500. It includes lifetime protection, flexible premium and death benefit arrangements, and downside protection through a guaranteed floor. The plan is positioned for clients seeking a balance between market participation and capital preservation in succession structures.

The tie-up comes as Singapore’s wealth management sector continues to attract family offices and internationally mobile capital. Single-family offices in Singapore rose to about 2,000 in 2024 from 1,650 a year earlier, reflecting the city-state’s appeal as a base for governance, investment structuring and succession planning. Wealth managers and insurers have been competing to serve families from Greater China, Southeast Asia, South Asia and the Middle East, many of whom are looking for multi-jurisdictional solutions that combine investment access, insurance, tax planning and estate continuity.

Demand for indexed universal life products has grown as wealthy families seek instruments that can provide insurance protection while allowing some participation in equity-market upside. Such products are often used to address estate tax liquidity, business succession, charitable planning and intergenerational asset transfer. They can also help families ring-fence assets for beneficiaries while maintaining flexibility in premium schedules and policy structures.

For CapBridge, the collaboration adds another layer to a platform that has already moved beyond private-market access into broader portfolio and wealth planning services. The company’s earlier partnerships in insurance and investment access show an effort to build a more integrated proposition for accredited and high-net-worth clients who prefer consolidated digital execution rather than dealing separately with brokers, banks, custodians and insurers.

For Sun Life Singapore, the arrangement widens distribution for its high-net-worth insurance suite through a digital platform serving investors already active in alternative assets and private markets. That client base is increasingly relevant for life insurers as family offices allocate more capital across private equity, private credit, structured products and global equities, while also requiring protection products to manage wealth transfer risk.

The collaboration also reflects a broader industry shift in Asia, where life insurers are moving closer to private banks, external asset managers and digital investment platforms. Insurance products are no longer being marketed only as protection tools; they are being embedded into wealth architecture, particularly for families with assets, heirs and business interests spread across several jurisdictions.

BDC intends to further deploy HVO-powered energy solutions across its data centres in Asia Pacific and beyond

SINGAPORE – Media OutReach Newswire – 12 May 2026 – Bridge Data Centres (BDC), a Singapore-headquartered hyperscale data centre provider, and EcoCeres, a global leader in the innovation and commercialisation of renewable fuels and green molecules, have successfully completed their inaugural Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO)-powered backup fuel pilot in Asia Pacific at BDC’s data centre campuses. HVO is a next-generation renewable fuel derived from 100% waste-based feedstock and serves as a high-quality drop-in substitute for conventional fossil diesel. It requires no modifications to existing backup generators and reduces greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90 per cent.

The pilot covered the full range of emergency backup power scenarios, including generator startup, load transfer and sustained operations under data centre conditions, with all performance and emissions targets met. In addition, BDC has completed large-scale HVO testing across multiple locations. Building on the success of the pilot, BDC intends to further deploy HVO-powered solutions across its data centre campus in Asia Pacific and beyond.

Eric Fan, CEO of Bridge Data Centres, said: “Sustainability is core to BDC’s strategy. As AI workloads continue to scale across the region, we are committed to advancing innovative clean energy solutions that reduce our carbon footprint while meeting the performance and reliability requirements of our hyperscale customers. The success of our inaugural pilot in Asia Pacific demonstrates that HVO-powered backup fuel is a feasible and replicable concept for other high-growth data centre markets.”

Matti Lievonen, CEO of EcoCeres, said: “Decarbonising data centres is one of the most urgent and technically demanding challenges in the net zero transition, and we are proud to partner with Bridge Data Centres to demonstrate that HVO is ready to perform at scale in real-world operations. By proving that waste based renewable fuels can meet stringent reliability and performance requirements in existing diesel backup systems, this pilot offers a practical way for operators to significantly reduce emissions while maintaining the highest standards of reliability.”

The milestone comes after BDC and EcoCeres signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly pilot and promote HVO adoption in data centre operations.

BDC and EcoCeres will collaborate further to develop common standards and practical guidelines to support broader HVO adoption across the data centre industry.

The partnership is part of BDC’s wider push to advance clean energy solutions for data centres, which includes developing Singapore’s first floating hydrogen power generation solution tailored for next-generation AI data centres.

Reliance Jio Platforms has reshaped its planned Mumbai stock market debut into a fresh-share issue, dropping an earlier structure that would have allowed existing investors to sell part of their holdings and turning the offer into a direct capital-raising exercise for the digital and telecom business.

The revised plan would involve the sale of a 2.5 per cent stake through new shares, with the proceeds flowing to Jio Platforms rather than to shareholders seeking exits. The change marks a significant adjustment in what is expected to be one of the largest public offerings in the country’s capital markets, and places long-term growth funding ahead of partial monetisation by early backers.

Jio Platforms, controlled by Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries, owns Reliance Jio Infocomm and houses a broad portfolio of digital services spanning telecom, broadband, cloud, media, payments and consumer technology platforms. Its shareholder base includes Meta, Google, Vista Equity Partners, KKR, Mubadala, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, many of which entered the company during the 2020 fundraising cycle.

Earlier discussions had explored an offer-for-sale structure under which foreign investors could have sold about 8 per cent of their individual holdings, amounting to roughly 2.5 per cent of Jio Platforms. That approach has now been set aside, with investors opting to remain exposed to the business rather than reduce stakes at the listing stage.

The decision strengthens Reliance’s control over the IPO narrative. A fresh issue allows the company to present the listing as a growth-financing event instead of an exit window for private investors. It also limits the risk that the market interprets selling by marquee shareholders as a signal of valuation caution, particularly at a time when global technology listings are being judged closely on profitability, cash generation and regulatory exposure.

Jio Platforms is widely seen as the centrepiece of Reliance Industries’ transition from an energy-heavy conglomerate to a broader consumer, digital and technology group. The telecom arm has become one of the world’s largest mobile operators by users, while its digital ecosystem has helped Reliance build links across retail, entertainment, finance and enterprise services.

The company’s operating performance has supported expectations of a high-profile listing. Jio Platforms reported strong profit growth for the quarter ended March 2026, helped by tariff-led gains, subscriber additions, higher data consumption and expansion in home broadband. Average revenue per user rose to ₹214, reflecting improved monetisation after tariff increases and a better customer mix.

The proposed IPO has been closely watched since Ambani told shareholders that Jio Platforms was being readied for a market debut in the first half of 2026. Preparations gathered pace after listing rules were adjusted to make it easier for very large companies to float a smaller portion of equity while still meeting public-shareholding requirements over time.

A 2.5 per cent offering would keep public float modest at the start, but even that limited stake could translate into a multibillion-dollar transaction if the company commands a valuation close to estimates that have placed Jio Platforms around $180 billion. At that level, the IPO could rank among the largest listings ever seen on domestic exchanges.

The timing remains sensitive. Equity markets have been volatile as investors weigh interest-rate expectations, geopolitical risks, technology valuations and capital flows into emerging markets. Several large companies have adjusted listing timetables as issuers and bankers test demand from institutional and retail investors.

Reliance has assembled a large banking syndicate for the transaction, underlining the scale and complexity of the planned sale. The deal will require careful pricing to balance investor appetite, Reliance’s valuation expectations and the interests of existing shareholders who invested at a premium during the digital fundraising boom.

For Meta and Google, continued ownership preserves access to one of the world’s largest digital consumer markets through partnerships linked to messaging, cloud services, devices and online commerce. For sovereign wealth funds and private equity investors, remaining invested offers exposure to a mature telecom platform with rising cash flows and expanding digital adjacencies.

The IPO will also have implications for Reliance Industries’ own market valuation. Investors have long debated whether separate listings of Jio Platforms and Reliance Retail could unlock value trapped inside the conglomerate structure. A successful Jio debut may narrow the holding-company discount, while a weak listing would raise questions over the pace and pricing of Reliance’s broader demerger and monetisation strategy.

SEMICON Southeast Asia 2026 opened in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday, putting Malaysia at the centre of a regional push to capture a larger share of the global semiconductor value chain as chipmakers rethink production networks, sourcing risks and capacity plans.

The three-day industry gathering at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre runs from 5 to 7 May and is expected to draw more than 20,000 policymakers, manufacturers, suppliers, investors, researchers and technology specialists. Held under the theme “Transform Tomorrow”, the event is being staged in strategic partnership with Malaysia’s Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority.

The launch ceremony was officiated by Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, Malaysia’s Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, with senior SEMI executives, MIDA leadership and global semiconductor company representatives in attendance. The programme places manufacturing scale-up, advanced packaging, intelligent manufacturing, sustainability and workforce development at the centre of discussions, reflecting the industry’s shift from pure capacity expansion to more resilient and geographically diversified ecosystems.

Malaysia enters the event with a strong base in electrical and electronics manufacturing, particularly assembly, testing and packaging. The country has long been a critical node for chip back-end operations, with Penang and Kulim playing key roles in outsourced semiconductor assembly and test activity. The policy focus is now moving further up the value chain into chip design, advanced packaging, automation, materials, equipment support and higher-value manufacturing services.

Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid, chief executive officer of MIDA, said Malaysia was no longer positioning itself as a passive beneficiary of industry shifts. “The semiconductor industry is at an inflection point, and Malaysia intends to be at the centre of what comes next,” he said, pointing to the MADANI Economy Framework and the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 as policy anchors for a broader industrial upgrade.

The E&E sector secured RM28.5 billion in approved investments in 2025, underlining continued investor interest despite a more fragmented global trade environment. Malaysia’s broader semiconductor strategy is focused on supply-chain integration, stronger domestic enterprise capability and talent development, as the country seeks to build a deeper industrial base around its existing production strengths.

Ajit Manocha, president and chief executive officer of SEMI, said closer coordination across design, manufacturing, materials and supply chains had become essential as artificial intelligence, high-performance computing and advanced electronics reshape demand. He said SEMICON Southeast Asia was designed not only as a technology showcase but as a platform for partnerships that can support long-term industry growth and resilience.

The timing of the Kuala Lumpur event is significant. Global semiconductor sales are on course to approach $1 trillion in 2026, driven largely by demand for AI accelerators, memory, advanced logic, data-centre infrastructure, automotive electronics and edge devices. Monthly industry sales crossed $99 billion in March 2026, while first-quarter sales were sharply higher than the previous quarter, showing the scale of the current upcycle.

Capital expenditure is also accelerating. Spending on 300mm fab equipment is projected to rise to about $133 billion in 2026 and $151 billion in 2027, as chipmakers expand capacity for advanced logic and memory while governments push for more localised semiconductor supply chains. Yet Southeast Asia remains under-represented in new front-end fabrication plans compared with China, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan and the United States, leaving room for Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand and the Philippines to compete more aggressively for future investment.

SEMICON Southeast Asia 2026 features the Executive Leadership Summit, the MIDA Strategic Semiconductor Forum and Seminar, the Sustainability and Energy Summit, TechZoomers Challenge and TalentCONNECT. These sessions are designed to connect policy, capital, manufacturing capability and workforce planning, rather than treating the exhibition as a conventional trade fair.

The emphasis on talent is especially important. Semiconductor expansion is being constrained not only by investment cycles and export controls but also by shortages of engineers, technicians, automation specialists and materials experts. Malaysia’s challenge is to match global investor confidence with a skilled workforce capable of supporting advanced packaging, precision manufacturing and design-linked activity.
