Coinbase has launched 24/7 trading for Bitcoin and Ethereum futures through its CFTC-regulated platform, Coinbase Derivatives, marking a significant shift in U.S. crypto market accessibility. This initiative allows traders to engage in futures contracts at any time, aligning with the continuous nature of global cryptocurrency markets.

The move addresses a longstanding gap between traditional U.S. trading hours and the always-on operations of crypto markets. Previously, U.S. traders faced limitations due to fixed market hours, often missing opportunities during off-hours. With this development, Coinbase aims to provide traders with the flexibility to manage risk and seize opportunities without time constraints.

Coinbase’s infrastructure supports this continuous trading model through partnerships with Nodal Clear, a CFTC-regulated clearinghouse, and liquidity providers like Virtu Financial. These collaborations ensure that the platform can handle the demands of round-the-clock trading while maintaining regulatory compliance.

The introduction of 24/7 trading is part of Coinbase’s broader strategy to expand its derivatives offerings. The company has also announced plans to develop perpetual-style futures contracts, which do not have expiration dates, providing traders with additional tools to manage their positions over extended periods.

This expansion into continuous trading comes amid a surge in institutional interest in cryptocurrency derivatives. Derivatives account for a significant portion of global crypto trading volume, and Coinbase’s enhanced offerings aim to cater to this growing demand.

Coinbase’s move also reflects a broader trend of increasing regulatory clarity in the U.S. crypto market. The company’s alignment with regulatory standards, such as operating a CFTC-regulated exchange, positions it to capitalize on the evolving landscape of digital asset trading.

In addition to the launch of 24/7 trading, Coinbase has announced a $2.9 billion acquisition of Deribit, a leading crypto options trading platform. This acquisition is expected to further strengthen Coinbase’s position in the derivatives market and expand its global reach.

This uptick coincided with a 9% year-on-year increase in assets under management , now totaling AED 1.2 trillion , and a five-year annualised return of 10.1%.

The fund’s intensified investment activity was largely driven by strategic allocations in artificial intelligence , semiconductors, and private equity sectors. Notably, Mubadala’s investments in North America nearly doubled, underscoring its confidence in the U.S. market despite prevailing economic uncertainties. In a significant move, Mubadala acquired a 50% stake in MGX, an AI-focused entity that collaborated with BlackRock and Microsoft in a $30 billion AI infrastructure fund.

Mubadala’s portfolio composition remained relatively stable, with 40% allocated to private equity, 23% to public markets, and 17% to infrastructure and real estate. This allocation reflects a strategic emphasis on sectors poised for long-term growth. The fund also expanded its private credit holdings to $20 billion, aligning with its broader investment strategy.

In the healthcare sector, Mubadala finalized the acquisition of an 80% stake in Global Medical Supply Chain and Al Ittihad Drug Store, enhancing its presence in healthcare logistics and pharmaceutical distribution. Additionally, the fund invested in Zelis, a U.S.-based healthcare technology firm, alongside Norwest and HarbourVest.

Mubadala’s commitment to clean energy was evident through Masdar’s acquisition of a 50% stake in the Big Beau combined solar and battery storage project in California. Furthermore, Mubadala Capital announced a $13.5 billion investment in a biofuels project in Brazil, marking a significant step in sustainable energy initiatives.

The fund’s strategic partnerships extended to the financial sector, with the acquisition of Fortress Investment Group from SoftBank, following regulatory approval from the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States . This acquisition bolsters Mubadala’s position in global credit markets.

Mubadala’s CEO, Khaldoon Al Mubarak, emphasized the fund’s focus on future-oriented sectors, stating that the portfolio is constructed to navigate market cycles and scale sectors such as AI, clean energy, life sciences, semiconductors, and advanced manufacturing, aligning with national priorities.

The fund’s strategic initiatives also include the establishment of Space42, a space and satellite technology entity formed through the merger of Yahsat and Bayanat, and M42, a tech-enabled healthcare company, both in collaboration with Abu Dhabi’s tech group G42.

Mubadala’s approach to sustainable finance was highlighted by the issuance of its inaugural green bond, aligning with the UAE’s commitment to Net Zero by 2050. The fund maintains a conservative gearing ratio of 10.3% and a strong liquidity position, ensuring resilience amid global economic fluctuations.

In the realm of private equity, Mubadala Capital raised $3.1 billion for its latest fund, surpassing the initial target of $2 billion. The fund aims to invest between $150 million and $500 million per deal, focusing on acquiring large holdings in private equity markets.

The upcoming launch of CyberCatsCoin is generating considerable excitement in the cryptocurrency community, as the new meme coin promises to bring tangible utility to a sector often dominated by speculative tokens. With its presale slated to begin shortly, the coin’s creators are positioning it to stand out not only for its playful, meme-inspired branding but also for its innovative approach to addressing real-world problems within the crypto space.

Unlike many meme coins, which thrive primarily on viral marketing and community-driven hype, CyberCatsCoin aims to blend the playful, community-driven ethos of meme tokens with functionality that extends beyond just speculation. According to the project’s whitepaper, the coin is designed to facilitate a range of use cases, from providing a platform for decentralized applications to integrating with charity initiatives and supporting real-world partnerships. This combination of fun and purpose has already caught the attention of crypto enthusiasts and investors alike.

The project is being led by a team of experienced blockchain developers, marketing strategists, and community managers, many of whom have previously worked on high-profile crypto projects. Their goal is to differentiate CyberCatsCoin from the vast sea of meme tokens by offering long-term value to its holders, rather than relying solely on short-term speculative hype. By integrating robust utility features, the team hopes to attract a broader audience beyond typical meme coin investors, such as those interested in decentralized finance , NFTs, and blockchain-based solutions.

One of the primary goals of CyberCatsCoin is to create an ecosystem where users can interact with the coin in various meaningful ways. The development team has outlined plans to launch a decentralized exchange and a series of dApps that will enable holders to use their tokens in real-world applications. These include everything from charity donations to staking rewards and governance in the project’s evolving ecosystem. Such features are designed to drive both utility and adoption, helping to position CyberCatsCoin as more than just another joke coin.

The presale for CyberCatsCoin is expected to generate significant interest, particularly among meme coin enthusiasts who are familiar with coins like Dogecoin and Shiba Inu. However, the coin’s creators are eager to highlight how CYBCC is different. By incorporating meaningful use cases and long-term vision into the tokenomics, they are positioning the coin as a more sustainable and impactful option for those seeking to participate in the meme coin market.

The presale will offer early investors the chance to purchase CYBCC at a discounted price before it officially launches on various exchanges. This strategic move aims to build a solid foundation of loyal supporters and create momentum for the token’s eventual widespread adoption. As with any presale, however, investors are urged to exercise caution and conduct due diligence before committing their funds.

CyberCatsCoin’s focus on real-world utility has sparked considerable interest from the DeFi and blockchain development communities. The project is not just about creating another meme coin for fun but about pushing the boundaries of what meme-inspired cryptocurrencies can achieve. Experts in the blockchain sector have noted that the integration of utility with meme-based marketing could pave the way for a new breed of crypto assets that combine the best of both worlds: fun, community engagement, and real-world applicability.

Despite the current bear market conditions in the cryptocurrency sector, the project has already garnered a strong community following on social media platforms, with thousands of users joining Telegram groups and Twitter channels dedicated to CyberCatsCoin. This level of early interest bodes well for the presale and beyond, as the coin’s creators continue to engage with their community through regular updates, contests, and partnership announcements.

Cryptocurrency derivatives trading platform Flipster has entered the esports arena by securing naming rights for Talon Esports’ Dota 2 team, which will now compete under the moniker Flipster Talon. This strategic partnership marks a significant move for both entities, aligning a rising crypto exchange with one of Southeast Asia’s premier esports organisations.

The agreement grants Flipster prominent branding across team jerseys, digital platforms, and in-game identifiers. The rebranded team is set to make its debut at BLAST Slam II, a major Dota 2 tournament featuring a $1 million prize pool, scheduled to commence on 4 February 2025. This event will serve as a litmus test for the newly formed alliance’s impact on competitive performance and market visibility.

Talon Esports has undergone a significant transformation following a disappointing run at The International 2024. The organisation parted ways with its entire Dota 2 roster, including notable players such as Nuengnara “23savage” Teeramahanon and Rafli “Mikoto” Rahman. In their place, Talon has assembled a new lineup featuring seasoned players Carlo “Kuku” Palad and John Anthony “Natsumi” Vargas, under the guidance of head coach Park “March” Tae-won. This overhaul aims to revitalise the team’s competitive edge and reestablish its dominance in the Southeast Asian Dota 2 scene.

The partnership with Flipster is part of Talon Esports’ broader strategy to diversify its sponsorship portfolio. Previously, the organisation has secured deals with various brands, including gaming peripherals company SteelSeries and betting firms such as 1xBet and M88 Mansion. These collaborations have not only provided financial support but also enhanced Talon’s brand presence across multiple platforms.

Flipster’s foray into esports sponsorship reflects a growing trend of cryptocurrency companies seeking to engage with younger, tech-savvy audiences through gaming partnerships. By aligning with Talon Esports, Flipster aims to increase its brand recognition and tap into the expansive reach of the esports community. This move also underscores the increasing convergence between digital finance and competitive gaming, as both industries continue to evolve and intersect.

Laos has unveiled an ambitious plan to transform itself into a central hub for gold trading and refining in Asia by 2030, spearheaded by the Lao Bullion Bank . This initiative aims to bolster the nation’s financial stability and elevate its standing in the global precious metals market.

At a strategic meeting held on 2 May, LBB’s Chief Executive Officer, Chanthone Sitthixay, detailed the bank’s vision to establish Laos as a leader in the precious metals sector. The plan encompasses the development of comprehensive gold trading platforms, refining capabilities, and secure storage solutions, aligning with international standards to attract both regional and global investors.

The Lao Bullion Bank, officially launched in December 2024, represents a significant step in the country’s economic strategy. The bank’s establishment is a collaborative effort between the Lao government and PTL Holding, with the government holding a 25% stake and PTL Holding owning the remaining 75%. This partnership underscores a commitment to enhancing the nation’s gold reserves and stabilising the local currency, the Kip.

Since its inception, LBB has introduced various services, including gold deposit accounts, loans backed by gold collateral, and gold vending machines. These offerings aim to integrate gold more deeply into the financial system, providing citizens with alternative investment options and contributing to economic resilience.

To strengthen its position in the regional market, LBB has entered into strategic partnerships with key industry players. In October 2024, the bank signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Singapore Bullion Market Association , focusing on knowledge exchange and regulatory collaboration to enhance Laos’s bullion market infrastructure. Additionally, a partnership with StoneX APAC was established to leverage technological expertise and develop new financial products tailored to the precious metals sector.

In March 2025, LBB further expanded its network by partnering with Samlane Jewelry, a prominent local gold retailer. This collaboration aims to standardise gold trading practices within the country and facilitate smoother transactions for investors and consumers. As part of this initiative, a promotional campaign was launched, offering incentives to customers who deposit gold with the bank, thereby encouraging public participation in the formal gold market.

The bank’s efforts are also directed towards refining unmined gold ores, transforming them into valuable assets that can contribute to the national budget and reserves. By doing so, Laos seeks to maximise the value derived from its natural resources, ensuring sustainable economic growth and financial independence.

LBB’s establishment and its subsequent initiatives reflect a broader governmental strategy to integrate Laos more fully into the global financial system. By positioning itself as a central player in the precious metals market, Laos aims to attract foreign investment, enhance its economic stability, and offer its citizens diversified financial services.

The UAE’s blockchain market is expected to experience robust growth, with a compound annual growth rate of approximately 42% from 2025 to 2030. This surge is being driven by strategic government initiatives aimed at harnessing the potential of blockchain technology, positioning the UAE as a global leader in the sector.

The Emirates Blockchain Strategy 2021, alongside the Dubai Blockchain Strategy, has been a key factor in propelling the country’s blockchain ambitions. The UAE government aims to transform Dubai into the first city fully powered by blockchain technology, establishing the city as a central hub for digital innovation. The National Blockchain Strategy, launched to cover the period from 2021 to 2031, outlines a bold vision for the country, with a target to convert 50% of government transactions into blockchain-based systems. This initiative is set to fundamentally reshape the public sector, enhancing transparency, efficiency, and security in governmental operations.

At the heart of this growth is a clear government-driven commitment to blockchain, which has fostered a conducive environment for both local and foreign investors. By encouraging blockchain adoption across various sectors, the UAE has attracted substantial interest from international businesses seeking to tap into this emerging market.

Blockchain’s applications in sectors beyond government administration, such as finance, healthcare, and logistics, are seeing increased adoption across the UAE. The integration of blockchain into these industries promises to revolutionise processes, particularly in terms of data security and automation.

The rise in interest surrounding digital assets, especially cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, has further bolstered blockchain’s relevance in the UAE. As a growing hub for cryptocurrency, the UAE’s regulatory bodies have facilitated the establishment of secure environments where blockchain-powered digital assets can thrive. The Abu Dhabi Global Market and Dubai Multi Commodities Centre have set high standards for crypto businesses, ensuring that these ventures operate within a structured, regulated framework. This regulatory clarity has positioned the UAE as a safe and attractive destination for cryptocurrency investors and entrepreneurs.

The surge in blockchain-related developments has also had a ripple effect on startup ecosystems in the UAE. Many tech startups are focusing on blockchain innovations, tapping into the opportunities offered by a market eager for cutting-edge technology solutions. The government has offered various incentives to these startups, making it easier for entrepreneurs to develop and launch blockchain solutions across different industries. This includes support for research and development, tax incentives, and access to venture capital funding.

International investors have also shown significant interest in the UAE’s blockchain market. The country’s stable regulatory environment, coupled with its proactive stance on blockchain integration, makes it an attractive destination for global investors seeking exposure to the digital economy. The UAE’s financial and regulatory bodies, such as the UAE Central Bank, have been instrumental in ensuring that blockchain technologies are seamlessly integrated into existing financial infrastructure, laying the groundwork for future innovations in digital banking and transactions.

The UAE’s focus on blockchain adoption has resulted in collaborations with global technology giants. International companies, especially those from the fintech and tech sectors, are increasingly establishing a presence in the UAE, taking advantage of the region’s favourable business environment. These collaborations are not only elevating the UAE’s technological landscape but also contributing to the global development of blockchain technology.

One of the UAE’s strategic advantages is its ability to position itself as a gateway for the Middle East, Africa, and Asia in terms of blockchain technology. The country’s well-established infrastructure, highly developed financial services industry, and strong governmental support provide an ideal backdrop for the scaling of blockchain-related businesses and projects.

In addition, the UAE is committed to building a strong talent pool in blockchain technology. With the rapid rise of blockchain across industries, there has been a growing demand for professionals with expertise in blockchain development, smart contracts, and digital asset management. The UAE has introduced various educational initiatives to address this demand, including partnerships with international universities and the establishment of blockchain-focused training programmes.

Despite the promising outlook, the UAE’s blockchain market faces challenges, including the need for continuous technological innovation and regulatory adaptation to keep pace with the rapidly evolving sector. The country will need to ensure that its legal and financial infrastructure remains flexible and dynamic, catering to the needs of blockchain developers, crypto investors, and businesses seeking to integrate blockchain into their operations.

The adoption of blockchain technology across various sectors will require overcoming cultural and institutional resistance. Although the government has made significant strides in promoting blockchain, further education and awareness campaigns may be needed to ensure that blockchain’s potential is fully realised across all industries.

Canaan Inc. , a prominent manufacturer of bitcoin mining hardware, has been identified by Benchmark analyst Mark Palmer as a company with significant growth prospects. Palmer initiated coverage with a ‘buy’ rating and set a price target of $3 per share, suggesting a potential fivefold increase from its current trading price of approximately $0.60. This optimistic outlook is attributed to Canaan’s strategic initiatives in product innovation and global market expansion.

The company has been actively enhancing its product line, notably with the introduction of the Avalon Q, a compact, app-controlled home mining machine delivering 90 TH/s of computing power. This device is designed to cater to individual users, supporting a 110V home power supply, and is part of Canaan’s efforts to make bitcoin mining more accessible to a broader audience.

In addition to product development, Canaan has been expanding its operational footprint. The company reported a month-end deployed hashrate of 6.28 EH/s and an operating hashrate of 5.73 EH/s as of February 2025. These figures represent a sequential increase from the previous month, indicating steady growth in mining capabilities. Canaan’s self-mining operations have also been bolstered through partnerships, such as the joint mining collaboration with Luna Squares in Texas and the upgrade of mining rigs at Stronghold’s Panther Creek facility in Pennsylvania.

Financially, Canaan anticipates total revenues for fiscal year 2025 to range between $900 million and $1.1 billion, reflecting improved market demand and cost optimizations. The company also reported a narrowed gross loss for the fourth quarter of 2024, estimated between $10 million and $6 million, surpassing previous guidance.

Canaan’s strategic moves have not gone unnoticed in the market. The company secured significant orders from major players, including a follow-on order from HIVE Digital Technologies Ltd for 5,000 Avalon A15-194T miners and an agreement with AGM Group Holdings Inc. to provide 2,000 Avalon A15 Hydro Bitcoin mining machines, with an option for the customer to acquire up to 30,000 additional units. These deals underscore the growing demand for Canaan’s mining equipment and its strengthening position in the industry.

The company’s expansion into North America is a strategic pivot aimed at achieving a mining hash rate of 10 EH/s in the region and 15 EH/s globally by mid-2025. This move is complemented by the establishment of a localized team to explore partnerships and opportunities, as well as the implementation of new projects to solidify Canaan’s presence in the North American market.

Canaan’s commitment to innovation is further exemplified by its launch of the Avalon Mini 3 and Nano 3S Bitcoin mining heaters for home use at CES 2025. These devices combine efficient Bitcoin mining with home heating solutions, aiming to democratize cryptocurrency mining for individuals and expand the company’s reach to a wider customer base.

The company’s efforts are supported by a competitive all-in power cost of $0.04/kWh, which is considered industry-leading. This cost efficiency, coupled with the company’s strategic partnerships and product innovations, positions Canaan favorably in the evolving landscape of cryptocurrency mining.

Canaan’s stock performance reflects the market’s response to these developments. The company’s shares are currently trading at approximately $0.60, with a market capitalization of $361.06 million. The stock has experienced fluctuations, with an intraday high of $0.665 and a low of $0.5815, indicating investor interest and market volatility.

By working closely together, the two companies will ensure a smoother, faster product distribution system, ultimately benefiting consumers with quicker access to Panasonic’s wide range of electronics and home appliances. SACO’s established retail network and expertise in the local market provide Panasonic with the necessary infrastructure to reach a broader audience while maintaining the highest service standards.

As part of the partnership, SACO will become Panasonic’s exclusive retail distributor for several product categories, including air conditioners, home appliances, and consumer electronics. The partnership comes at a time when Saudi Arabia’s retail and electronics sectors are experiencing substantial growth, driven by a youthful population, rising disposable incomes, and increased consumer demand for high-quality home electronics. This trend is further supported by the Saudi Vision 2030 initiative, which aims to diversify the economy and reduce its reliance on oil exports. As part of this vision, the Kingdom is increasingly focusing on expanding its non-oil sectors, with retail and consumer electronics being key growth areas.

Panasonic’s commitment to sustainability aligns with the growing demand for energy-efficient products in the Kingdom. In response to this demand, the company plans to introduce a range of environmentally conscious solutions, such as energy-saving home appliances and air conditioning systems, designed to meet Saudi Arabia’s strict energy regulations. These products are expected to resonate well with consumers who are becoming more environmentally aware and seek to reduce their carbon footprints while maintaining high standards of comfort and quality.

Through this collaboration, Panasonic also aims to strengthen its after-sales service network in Saudi Arabia. The partnership will facilitate the creation of dedicated service centres, staffed by highly trained technicians who can provide maintenance and repair services for Panasonic products. This move is designed to enhance customer satisfaction, ensuring that consumers receive comprehensive support throughout the life cycle of their purchased products. Panasonic’s reputation for high-quality manufacturing and reliability will be further bolstered by SACO’s robust service infrastructure.

The partnership is expected to play a pivotal role in transforming the electronics retail sector in Saudi Arabia. By leveraging SACO’s local expertise and Panasonic’s global brand strength, the companies aim to offer a unique value proposition to consumers. Shoppers will benefit from a more integrated shopping experience, including access to the latest Panasonic products, expert advice, and convenient after-sales support. Furthermore, the collaboration is likely to spark more innovation in the retail sector, as other manufacturers may look to follow suit and form similar partnerships with local distributors to enhance their market presence.

As the Kingdom continues to prioritise economic diversification and digital transformation under Saudi Vision 2030, the collaboration between Panasonic and SACO represents a significant step in aligning global brands with local expertise. By directly addressing consumer needs and preferences, the partnership is well-positioned to drive further growth in the Kingdom’s electronics and retail sectors, supporting the wider goal of modernising the economy and improving the quality of life for Saudi citizens.

AD Ports Group and the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone have entered into a significant partnership to develop a state-of-the-art industrial and logistics park at East Port Said, positioned strategically on the Mediterranean coast. The deal, formalised with a 50-year renewable usufruct agreement, is set to transform the region into a global trade and industrial hub, enhancing Egypt’s role in the international trade landscape.

The industrial park, spanning 20 square kilometres, will be located near the Egyptian city of Port Said, right at the entrance to the Suez Canal. This prime location offers a unique opportunity to establish a critical node for the East-West trade routes. The Suez Canal, already a vital passage for global maritime trade, is expected to see increased economic activity with the development of the new park.

The agreement was signed in Cairo in a ceremony attended by key figures from both the UAE and Egypt. Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Egypt’s Prime Minister, was present to oversee the occasion, which also saw notable ministers and officials in attendance, including Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, and Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel Al Wazir, Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Affairs and Minister of Industry and Transport. From the business side, Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group, and Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of SCZONE, were also among those involved in the proceedings.

This agreement marks a milestone in Egypt’s ongoing efforts to attract investment into its industrial and logistics sectors. By developing the East Port Said Industrial Zone, both countries are tapping into the immense potential for trade and industry in the region. The new industrial park aims to provide a wide range of services, from manufacturing and assembly to warehousing and distribution, tailored to serve both regional and global markets.

The development of the KEZAD East Port Said Industrial and Logistics Zone is expected to offer numerous advantages. Chief among these is its proximity to the Suez Canal, which connects the Mediterranean Sea to the Red Sea, making it a critical gateway for goods moving between Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. This location is anticipated to drive trade growth and improve logistics efficiency, benefitting international companies looking to establish a presence in the region.

The park will leverage the existing infrastructure in Port Said, including its deep-water port and transport links, to support the smooth flow of goods and services. The project is poised to attract multinational companies, as it offers easy access to one of the world’s busiest trade routes. The emphasis on advanced technology and industrial processes will further strengthen Egypt’s competitive edge in the global market.

This development is not just an economic opportunity for Egypt but also an important step in strengthening ties between the UAE and Egypt. The UAE, through AD Ports Group, has long been a key player in global logistics and infrastructure development, and this partnership builds upon their growing presence in Egypt. The collaboration aims to attract investments, create job opportunities, and support Egypt’s vision for economic diversification.

In addition to its strategic location, the park is designed to cater to the evolving needs of industries that are integral to Egypt’s economic future, such as manufacturing, technology, and logistics. The project is expected to facilitate the integration of advanced technologies in the industrial sector, allowing companies operating in the park to benefit from cutting-edge facilities and services. This will further cement the area’s status as a key investment destination for both domestic and international investors.

As the agreement paves the way for large-scale development, it is also expected to foster innovation and the adoption of sustainable practices in the industrial and logistics sectors. The emphasis on sustainability aligns with global trends towards greener industrial practices and further boosts the appeal of East Port Said as a forward-thinking industrial hub.

With a long-term focus on growth and development, the agreement also outlines provisions for the renewal of the usufruct, ensuring that the project remains viable and adaptable over the decades. This long-term commitment is a testament to the confidence both AD Ports Group and SCZONE have in the potential of the East Port Said region and its capacity to drive forward Egypt’s economic ambitions.

The involvement of high-profile figures, including government ministers and ambassadors, underlines the significance of the deal, not only for Egypt but also for the broader region. It reflects a shared vision between Egypt and the UAE to strengthen economic ties, increase trade, and improve infrastructure. This cooperation also supports broader regional stability and economic growth, with the East Port Said development serving as a symbol of the growing partnerships between the UAE and Egypt.
