Shares of Twenty One Capital, the newly public Bitcoin-native company, plunged sharply as trading began on the New York Stock Exchange under ticker “XXI”. The decline, amounting to roughly 24-26%, underscores investor unease even as the firm debuts with substantial holdings — over 43,500 bitcoins, valued at nearly US$4 billion, making it one of the largest corporate Bitcoin treasuries globally.

The decline came just as the firm completed a merger with special-purpose acquisition company Cantor Equity Partners, a process that had secured shareholder approval earlier this month. The combined entity began trading today, marking the formal public debut of Twenty One Capital.

The backers behind Twenty One include stablecoin issuer Tether, trading platform Bitfinex, and investment-holding conglomerate SoftBank Group — with the SPAC sponsored by global financial firm Cantor Fitzgerald.

Leadership under co-founder and CEO Jack Mallers has portrayed Twenty One as more than a treasury — the firm aims to build Bitcoin-centric financial services, capital markets advisory, lending and education operations. The business model seeks to marry a large Bitcoin reserve with recurring-revenue operations, offering investors both exposure to crypto and conventional business growth potential.

Despite the ambitious roadmap and deep institutional backing, investor sentiment appears cautious. The dip in share price comes amid a broader downturn in cryptocurrency valuations; bitcoin itself has fallen more than 28% since hitting a peak in October. That decline has put pressure on companies with large digital-asset treasuries.

Market watchers note that the stumble highlights the risks inherent in combining a speculative asset like bitcoin with public equity. Treasury-centric crypto firms have gained attention in recent months for treating bitcoin as a corporate reserve asset — yet, as volatility returns, their valuations are bearing the brunt. Some analysts argue the drop may force such firms to rethink reliance solely on crypto-treasury value, especially if markets remain turbulent.

For now, Twenty One’s challenge is to reassure shareholders that the business side will grow fast enough to absorb volatility in bitcoin prices. Its future will depend on execution: whether it can build a sustainable loan, advisory or media business around Bitcoin — and whether that strategy can hold up even if crypto markets remain unpredictable.

AceVector Ltd, the parent company of the e-commerce marketplace Snapdeal, has submitted an updated draft red herring prospectus to the Securities and Exchange Board of India, signalling that the company is advancing toward an initial public offering. The filing proposes a fresh issue of shares worth ₹300 crore, accompanied by an offer-for-sale of up to 6.38 crore equity shares held by existing investors.

The IPO proceeds are earmarked for scaling the business. AceVector plans to deploy funds towards marketing and promotion of the Snapdeal marketplace, bolstering the technological infrastructure underpinning its operations, and pursuing inorganic growth opportunities including potential acquisitions. A portion of the financing will also support general corporate purposes.

AceVector is not just Snapdeal: the company also owns the e-commerce enablement SaaS provider Unicommerce and the consumer-brands arm Stellaro Brands. Unicommerce, which had listed in 2024, reportedly saw significant investor interest, and adding Stellaro Brands gives AceVector a diversified presence across marketplace, software services, and private-label retail.

Despite being backed by long-standing investors such as SoftBank, Nexus Venture Partners and Foxconn, the company’s co-founders Kunal Bahl and Rohit Bansal — together owning roughly 34.63 per cent — are not offering any shares in the OFS, signalling confidence in the firm’s long-term prospects.

AceVector’s financials for the first half of fiscal year 2026 paint a picture of recovery. The company reported an operating revenue of ₹244 crore, up from ₹181 crore in the corresponding prior period — a growth of 34–35 per cent. The performance appears to have bolstered its public listing readiness.

Industry observers note that the renewed IPO attempt reflects changing market conditions and renewed investor appetite for technology-led and value-oriented e-commerce platforms. AceVector’s diversified structure — marketplace operations via Snapdeal, SaaS services through Unicommerce, and owned-brands via Stellaro — gives it a broad base that may appeal to a wide set of investors, especially in a market increasingly inclined toward asset-light, ecosystem-driven business models.

This filing follows a prior confidential DRHP submission in July 2025 and regulatory clearance from SEBI in November. That earlier ambition to raise a larger amount had been scaled down, possibly reflecting more conservative valuations and a recalibrated approach to public listing.

Strategy, the publicly traded firm widely known for holding the largest corporate stash of Bitcoin, has drawn a line under doubts over its ability to meet dividend and debt obligations without selling crypto by creating a $1.44 billion U. S.-dollar reserve backed by share sales. This move reflects a deeper shift in the company’s risk management as the digital-asset market endures sharp price swings.

According to disclosures, the cash reserve was funded through the company’s at-the-market sales program, under which Strategy issued new Class A common stock in November, raising nearly $1.5 billion. Those proceeds now serve to fund preferred stock dividends and interest payments on outstanding convertible debt, obligations that had sparked investor concern amid a steep slide in Bitcoin valuations.

Alongside the cash build-up, Strategy added another 130 Bitcoin to its holdings, raising its total cache to 650,000 BTC — reaffirming its long-term bullish stance even as market conditions deteriorate. Executive chairman Michael Saylor reiterated commitment to Bitcoin as core to the firm’s identity, signalling confidence that the underlying asset remains a compelling store of value despite pressure.

Still, Strategy trimmed its fiscal-year 2025 guidance on operating income and diluted earnings per share, reflecting the volatile environment. Earlier projections assumed a markedly higher Bitcoin price range; the company now expects end-of-year BTC valuations between $85,000 and $110,000, a significant downgrade from prior assumptions near $150,000. Analysts caution this wide range introduces considerable uncertainty for cash-flow forecasts and valuation models.

The need for a cash reserve stems from one of the harshest drawdowns Bitcoin has faced this year. Bitcoin surged past $126,000 in early October but surrendered those gains over the subsequent weeks. The broader crypto sell-off, combined with liquidity constraints and high correlation between digital assets and riskier financial instruments, has erased much of the 2025 rally.

Industry-wide, firms that built large digital-asset treasuries this year are now navigating amplified risk. A recent study modelling “Digital Asset Treasury” companies warns that those relying solely on mark-to-market gains are especially vulnerable in bear markets — a problem compounded when accounting for debt and fixed-income obligations. The authors argue that cash-flow generation independent of crypto price swings, such as fee-based services on payment rails, could offer a path to stability; for now, Strategy’s cash reserve seems to be its principal line of defence.

Market reaction was swift. Shares of Strategy dropped more than 10 per cent following the announcement, extending a decline that has taken the stock down over 50 per cent in 2025. Some investors remain unconvinced that the company’s liquidity buffer is sufficient, pointing to its substantial convertible debt load and the challenge of generating recurring operational revenue. Others see the reserve as a pragmatic step — a signal that Strategy is prioritising financial resilience over ideological purity.

ADES Holding Company has announced that its wholly owned subsidiary Shelf Drilling has secured a two-year contract with Brunei Shell Petroleum for the deployment of the Compact Driller standard jack-up rig offshore Brunei, with a contract value of roughly SAR 236 million. The rig is slated to begin operations in the fourth quarter of 2026 after undergoing contract-preparation procedures in Singapore; it is currently engaged under contract in India until May 2026.

The contract will see the jack-up rig employed for plug-and-abandonment operations in Bruneian waters, signalling an expansion of ADES’s footprint in Southeast Asia. The award represents the first contract secured under the newly finalised merger between ADES and Shelf Drilling, following acquisition of all outstanding shares of the UAE-based firm.

Completion of the acquisition marked a major expansion of ADES’s global reach, bringing its offshore fleet to 83 jack-up rigs, including 46 premium units, along with on- and offshore assets deployed across 19 countries. The company, headquartered in Al Khobar, emphasises its strong fleet capacity and geographic diversification as strategic advantages.

Global stock markets continue to experience significant losses, with sharp declines across major indices in Asia and other regions. The ongoing sell-off in equities has been driven by a combination of factors, including rising fears surrounding the stability of the global economy and concerns over the sustainability of the recent surge in artificial intelligence investments. These developments have raised alarm among investors, who are now bracing for the potential consequences of an AI bubble burst. As shares in major companies tumble, analysts are warning that the broader market could face deeper turmoil if the situation continues to deteriorate.

The volatility began when shares in leading technology firms, particularly in the AI sector, showed signs of weakness. Companies such as Google, Microsoft, and NVIDIA, which have heavily invested in AI technologies, saw substantial declines in their stock prices. Google’s CEO, Sundar Pichai, joined the growing chorus of voices warning that no company, regardless of its size or industry, would be immune if the AI-driven bubble were to burst. His remarks have further heightened concerns about the potential risks associated with the rapid adoption of AI technologies in various sectors, from finance to healthcare and manufacturing.

The sell-off has not been limited to just tech stocks. Broader market indices have also suffered, with the MSCI Asia-Pacific Index recording steep losses. Investors are particularly focused on the outlook for interest rates, as central banks, especially the Federal Reserve, have indicated that they will continue their tightening policies to combat inflation. This uncertainty regarding monetary policy has contributed to the risk-off sentiment, leading many investors to retreat from stocks and other risk assets.

Compounding the situation, the price of bitcoin, a barometer for risk appetite, has fallen to a seven-month low, reflecting the broader pullback from riskier assets. The digital currency, which had seen impressive gains earlier in the year, has now become a symbol of the broader unease in global financial markets. Its drop has triggered additional concerns, with some market participants fearing that the crypto market’s downturn could further exacerbate the sell-off in traditional equities.

The economic uncertainty has been exacerbated by geopolitical tensions, including the ongoing trade disputes between major economies, rising energy prices, and concerns over global supply chains. These factors have combined to create a perfect storm for investors, who are now facing mounting pressure to reassess their portfolios and risk exposures.

Corporate earnings reports are also under scrutiny, with many firms expected to report weaker-than-expected results due to higher input costs and slowing demand. Companies that had previously benefited from the pandemic-driven digital transformation, such as e-commerce giants and cloud computing providers, are now seeing their growth rates slow down. This slowdown is further contributing to the negative sentiment surrounding the stock market.

As the stock market sell-off continues, experts are advising caution and suggesting that investors should prepare for continued volatility in the months ahead. Some are calling for a reassessment of the risk associated with high-growth sectors, particularly those heavily reliant on AI technologies, while others recommend diversification to protect against potential downturns.

Japanese tourism stocks saw a significant decline on Monday following a travel warning issued by Beijing, advising its citizens against visiting or studying in Japan. The advisory marks an escalation in tensions between the two nations, which have been strained over various political and economic issues. As a result, travel-related stocks in Japan, including major airlines, hotel chains, and travel agencies, experienced substantial losses, reflecting investor concerns over the potential long-term impact on the industry.

The warning from China, which has one of the world’s largest outbound tourism markets, has raised alarms among Japanese businesses that rely heavily on Chinese visitors. For years, China has been a vital source of tourists to Japan, contributing significantly to the local economy, particularly in cities like Tokyo and Kyoto. The sharp downturn in shares underscores the vulnerability of the tourism sector to geopolitical tensions.

This latest development follows a series of diplomatic spats between Japan and China, which have increasingly impacted economic and trade relations. While the specifics of the current dispute remain unclear, analysts have pointed to issues such as territorial disagreements, historical grievances, and differing stances on regional security as key factors driving the diplomatic rift.

The travel warning by China is not the first of its kind. Beijing has previously restricted travel to Japan during periods of heightened tensions, but this advisory is seen as one of the most direct and impactful actions to date. The Chinese government has also issued similar warnings for other countries in the region in the past, often as a response to what it perceives as political provocations. However, the timing and nature of this particular advisory have raised the stakes, with Japan’s tourism sector now facing mounting pressure.

Tourism experts have expressed concern over the potential long-term damage to the industry. Chinese visitors make up a large proportion of international tourists to Japan, with millions arriving each year for both leisure and educational purposes. The travel ban could not only lead to immediate financial losses for airlines, hotels, and retail businesses but could also harm Japan’s reputation as a key global tourism destination.

Travel and hospitality stocks were among the hardest hit on Monday, with airline companies such as ANA Holdings and Japan Airlines seeing notable declines in their share prices. Hotel chains and tourism-related firms, which had already been struggling to recover from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, also faced substantial losses. The Tokyo Stock Exchange saw a broad-based sell-off, with many of these companies seeing their stock values fall by several percentage points.

The warning has also affected the education sector, as many Chinese students choose to study in Japan, particularly in fields such as language, technology, and business. Educational institutions have begun to express concern over a potential reduction in the number of Chinese students, which would impact both their financial standing and Japan’s cultural exchange programs.

This development also raises questions about the future of Japan’s broader tourism strategy, which has heavily relied on attracting foreign tourists to offset the country’s aging population and declining domestic demand. Japan had been making significant efforts to diversify its tourism base, targeting markets in Southeast Asia, Europe, and North America. However, the Chinese market had remained the cornerstone of Japan’s tourism revival, particularly post-pandemic.

As the diplomatic tension continues, Japan may need to reconsider its approach to handling relations with China. While Japan has expressed concerns over the growing assertiveness of China in regional matters, it will likely need to balance these issues with the economic realities of relying on Chinese tourists. Many experts believe that Japan will seek to engage in diplomatic dialogue with China to de-escalate the situation, but the travel warning serves as a stark reminder of the volatility of international relations and their direct impact on the economy.
