Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Establishment is spotlighting a suite of digital housing solutions at GITEX Global 2025, announcing strategic tie-ups aimed at advancing smart infrastructure and inclusive living. The initiative underscores Dubai’s push to fuse technology with urban development amid intensifying global competition in digital transformation.

MBRHE is presenting new digital services engineered to optimise housing operations, energy efficiency and resident experience. At GITEX, the entity finalised a partnership with Emirates Islamic Bank to develop financing and digital payment tools tailored for homeowners, and earlier inked an agreement with AI Smart to retrofit housing units with assistive technologies for People of Determination. The latter includes deploying smart systems in five identified residences to enhance mobility and independence. These deals complement an existing MoU with Emirates Gas to supply next-generation LPG composite cylinders across MBRHE communities, complete with annual maintenance services.

As part of Dubai’s government ecosystem at GITEX, MBRHE is listed among Gold Partners in the Digital Dubai pavilion, joining over 50 public and private entities promoting the emirate’s City-as-a-Service model. This placement gives MBRHE visibility amid hundreds of technology players from more than 180 countries. The pavilion is intended to demonstrate cross-sector digital synergies across health, energy, mobility and governance spheres.

MBRHE officials emphasise a multipronged strategy. The partnership with Emirates Islamic is geared toward embedding embedded financial tools into housing services. The AI Smart alliance is positioned as a step toward inclusive smart homes. Meanwhile, the collaboration with Emirates Gas addresses energy reliability and safety in residential zones under MBRHE’s purview. In announcing the AI Smart engagement, MBRHE described it as aligning with UAE leadership’s agenda to empower all segments of society, especially People of Determination.

The move follows MBRHE’s earlier commitment with GFS Developments to launch the Smart Housing Forum 2025, a platform to convene global experts on sustainable housing innovation. That partnership, formalised in late September, frames GITEX as a conduit for showcasing outcomes and inviting further collaboration.

Industry analysts say MBRHE’s integration of housing, finance, energy and assistive technology is representative of a wider trend in the Gulf: public agencies are no longer viewing infrastructure in isolation but as an integrated service ecosystem. State-linked housing bodies are increasingly collaborating with fintech, cleantech, proptech and social inclusion tech firms to convert static assets into responsive, data-enabled platforms.

Critics caution that the true test lies in execution, particularly in integrating legacy systems, ensuring cybersecurity across interconnected modules, and managing equitable access across lower-income beneficiary groups. For instance, retrofitting older housing stock with IoT or assistive systems often requires structural upgrades, which carry cost and logistical burdens.

At GITEX, MBRHE is expected to demonstrate live pilot models of smart home systems, energy monitoring dashboards, and resident apps that tie into real estate finance. These demos will act as proof points to entice further private sector engagement and scaling. MBRHE’s role as both regulator and operator gives it leverage but also raises accountability for outcomes.

Tesla has introduced stripped-down “Standard” versions of its Model Y and Model 3 in China, priced at about US$39,990 and US$36,990 respectively, in an effort to stem declining demand. The clean, steep drop into affordability came with a catch: several key features have been removed. The move has triggered wide disquiet and mixed sentiment across Chinese social media platforms as observers weigh its significance for Tesla’s China fortunes.

Tesla said the new models omit elements such as leather seats, a rear-passenger screen, radio functionality and the “Autosteer” feature of Autopilot. The price cut—roughly a 10 per cent reduction from higher-end trims—aims to broaden appeal without launching an entirely new product line. Many Chinese users responded sharply, dubbing the launch a “beggar version” of Tesla. Some highlighted that domestic EV rivals already offer more complete features at similar or lower price points.

Discussions on Weibo ranged from dismissive to cautiously optimistic. One commenter asked, “The beggar’s version of the Model Y costs 230,000 yuan. Would one actually buy it?” Another compared it to offerings from Li Auto, arguing that a similarly priced Li model delivers more “intelligent” content. Others countered that buyers often criticise products online yet still purchase them, suggesting Tesla might yet move significant volume.

Analysts see the move as a double-edged sword. While it could generate volume and help defend market share, it risks cannibalising Tesla’s own higher-margin variants. According to one industry strategist, the success of this strategy depends heavily on Tesla’s ability to squeeze out cost in manufacturing, battery sourcing and logistics. If it fails to manage margins, the gambit could backfire.

Tesla’s share price dropped by about 3.6 per cent in daytime trading following the announcement. One market observer described the shift as symbolic: “Tesla is slipping into a mainstream volume play rather than remaining a luxury-tech halo.” The automaker is being cast less as a disruptor and more as a mass-market player trying to straddle both prestige and affordability.

The pressure on Tesla is mounting. Its China market share has slipped amid surging competition from local automakers such as BYD, Nio and Xiaomi, which are aggressive on both pricing and feature bundles. Earlier this year, Xiaomi unveiled its YU7 SUV boasting strong range, 800-volt architecture and performance metrics designed to challenge Tesla directly. Tesla’s market share in China fell sharply, in part because local brands are better able to integrate battery innovations, in-vehicle entertainment, and smart-home integration.

Tesla’s strategy in China is complicated further by macro and regulatory tension. The company has already suspended orders for its U. S.-imported Model S and Model X in China, possibly in response to trade tensions. Meanwhile, the Gigafactory in Shanghai remains Tesla’s main hub for local and export production of Model 3 and Model Y, representing one of its rare wholly foreign-owned plants in China.

CleanCore Solutions announced it has accrued over 710 million Dogecoin tokens in its treasury, yielding more than US$20 million in unrealised gains as it edges toward a one-billion token target.

The Omaha-based company launched its Dogecoin treasury programme on 5 September, using proceeds from a US$175 million private placement to make phased acquisitions. The holding is backed by the Dogecoin Foundation and coordinated through its corporate arm, House of Doge.

At a trading price near US$0.245 per DOGE, CleanCore values its holdings at roughly US$173.9 million, leaving a buffer over its capital outlay after marking the gains.

Chief Executive Officer Clayton Adams described the strategy as aligned with “long-term vision of insiders and the House of Doge,” emphasising that the company is not just stacking DOGE but is seeking to expand its utility and maintain disciplined treasury management.

CleanCore says it maintains sufficient cash reserves to continue its accumulation efforts. It has forged a strategic alliance with Bitstamp by Robinhood to serve as the primary trading venue for its Dogecoin operations.

On the markets, shares of CleanCore fell 8.44 per cent to close at US$2.06, before a modest rebound of 1.46 per cent in after-hours trade.

Some analysts question the relevance of mNAV metrics for companies pursuing large crypto treasuries. Greg Cipolaro of NYDIG has argued that mNAV may neglect operational businesses beyond token holdings and may not properly account for convertible instruments.

Standard Chartered has cautioned that smaller firms with aggressive crypto treasury strategies could face overexposure pressures if market volatility intensifies, predicting that consolidation may occur among weaker players.

CleanCore continues to monitor short interest in its stock while working with the SEC to register shares issued under its private placement. The company also underscores that restricted and locked shares are held by insiders, the House of Doge, and affiliates.

A wave of investor appetite lifted the combined market cap of the top 15 public bitcoin miners to $58.1 billion in September, up from $41.6 billion in August and nearly three times the March low of $19.9 billion. That gain vastly outpaced bitcoin’s six-month rise of 21 per cent.

Iris Energy delivered a standout return of +624 per cent, while Applied Digital jumped +345 per cent and Cipher Mining rallied +321 per cent. Other strong performers included TeraWulf, Hut 8 and Bitfarms, up between +179 and +280 per cent; Riot Platforms added +147 per cent, HIVE rose +133 per cent, and Core Scientific gained +105 per cent. Even industry heavyweights such as CleanSpark, Bitdeer and Mara Holdings posted returns well above bitcoin’s own gain.

The bullish momentum coincided with accelerating pivots by mining firms into high-performance computing and AI infrastructure. Cipher Mining secured a 10-year colocation deal with AI cloud provider Fluidstack worth $3 billion, supported by $1.4 billion in backing from Google for lease obligations in return for share warrants. This deal boosted investor confidence and underscored the strategic shift beyond raw bitcoin mining.

Analysts note that miners with credible AI/HPC pivots posted average gains of roughly 57 per cent over the past month, significantly beating more traditional or “pure-play” miners. Those gains also outstripped bitcoin’s roughly 9 per cent rise in the same period.

At the same time, the bitcoin network’s hash rate jumped 9 per cent month on month, reaching an average of about 1,031 exahashes per second. That increase intensified competition and compressed margins: daily block reward revenue fell 10 per cent, and gross profit dropped 17 per cent compared to August.

Although elevated valuations reflect renewed investor faith in the mining sector, concerns about sustainability persist. The widening gap between equity valuations and operating revenues prompts questions about whether mining operators can sustain growth amid rising electricity costs, regulatory risks and hardware supply constraints.

Several firms are doubling down on their diversification efforts. Iris Energy has expanded into cloud services, while Core Scientific is pushing deeper into enterprise AI hosting. TeraWulf recently announced multi-year AI hosting contracts backed by Google and leased deployment capacity across its sites.

Bitcoin miners now hold approximately 1.8 million BTC, down from about 2.5 million in 2019—a shift that signals diminishing influence over the market and illustrates their evolving role in the ecosystem.

At their peak influence, miners were among the few entities controlling large pools of newly minted coins. Over time, however, many mining operators have adopted a business-like approach: periodically selling part of their mined yield to cover operational expenses, upgrade hardware, and manage liquidity. Those sales dilute their concentrated sway over supply movements.

On-chain data indicates miner outflows have shrunk sharply. CryptoQuant reports daily outflows dropped from 23,000 BTC in early 2025 to about 6,000 BTC in the most recent windows, with no extreme outflow days since February. Transfers from miner addresses to exchanges remain subdued, reinforcing the trend.

Despite dips in miner revenue—for example, daily earnings fell to about US$34 million in June—there is no evidence of forced liquidations. Instead, many miners are accumulating reserves while selectively monetising operations.

Publicly listed mining firms are increasingly decoupling their revenue streams from pure blockchain activity. CleanSpark, for instance, expanded a $100 million crypto-backed credit facility tied to its Coinbase holdings, with plans to fund growth across energy infrastructure and compute assets. Meanwhile, Cipher Mining struck a 10-year colocation deal with AI‐cloud provider Fluidstack, which could generate up to $3 billion in revenue over time and repurposes its infrastructure toward high-performance computing.

These developments reflect a broader industry evolution. With Paul’s halving in April 2024 slashing block rewards in half, miners now balance hash power growth against diminishing direct coin yield. To survive and scale, many operators are diversifying into hosting, AI, carbon credits, and “mining-as-a-service” models.

Smaller miners are under intense pressure. Rising energy costs, grid constraints, and compliance burdens marginalise those without scale or access to cheap power. Major operations are increasingly concentrated in jurisdictions with deregulated energy markets or surplus renewable capacity.

From a market impact perspective, miners’ strategic behaviour brings both stability and constraints. On one hand, their reduced dominance helps prevent supply shocks triggered by sudden bulk sales. On the other, their periodic selling still exerts friction on price rallies. Analysts suggest that sophisticated off-exchange OTC arrangements increasingly cloak miner sales, making their impact less visible but persistent.
