Mentored by Industry Masters and Winner of the iF Design Award, Andrew Unlocks a New Paradigm for High-Net-Worth Residential and Diverse Commercial Spaces from an Eastern Aesthetic Perspective
HONG KONG SAR – Media OutReach Newswire – 7 August 2026 – As spatial aesthetics and lifestyle philosophies continue to converge across the Greater Bay Area, academic discourse and talent exchange within the interior design sectors of Hong Kong and Mainland China have reached a pivotal milestone. On the evening of July 3, the CIID Hong Kong Inaugural Gala Dinner, themed “AI x ESG,” took place at Lake House in Tai Po. During the event, the CIID Interior Architecture Design Exchange Center, one of the most authoritative academic bodies in China’s interior design industry, officially licensed the designation to “CIID Hong Kong,” marking the formal recognition of its official preparatory branch in Hong Kong by the headquarters.
Mr. Andrew Lam, Founder of am PLUS DESIGNS, was officially appointed Vice Chairman of the CIID Hong Kong Center
At this grand gathering of industry luminaries, Mr. Andrew Lam, Founder of am PLUS DESIGNS, a premier Hong Kong interior design firm, was officially appointed Vice Chairman of the CIID Hong Kong Centre. This prestigious industry title serves as a resounding endorsement of Andrew’s years of deep cultivation in spatial design and his exceptional international vision. Moving forward, he will work side by side with industry titans—including Mr. Joey Ho, Chairman of the CIID Hong Kong, and Mr. Steve Leung, Honorary Advisor—to co-author a new chapter of integration and synergy for design forces in the Greater Bay Area.
Prestigious Lineage and Artisan Foundation: Refining Eastern Aesthetics Through Structural Space
The calibre of an outstanding designer is often defined at the inception of their career. Andrew began his journey from an exceptional vantage point, studying under Mr. Kenneth Ko, widely venerated as the “Father of Modern Chinese Interior Design.” Imbued with Ko’s design philosophy, Andrew developed a profound understanding of spatial essence: infusing physical architecture with human warmth while allowing functional utility and cultural depth to complement one another. His subsequent encounters with master designer Steve Leung on the professional CIID platform further bolstered his industry standing and provided enduring inspiration.
To explore the broader possibilities of serene Eastern aesthetics within a contemporary context, Andrew pursued advanced studies in Japan earlier in his career, training under prominent local practitioners. He continuously contemplated how to harmonize the grand inclusivity of traditional Chinese culture with the understated restraint of Japanese mono no aware and yugen. Within Hong Kong’s densely populated urban landscape, he set out to construct poetic sanctuaries where human warmth and architectural soul harmoniously coexist.
“Contemporary design is no longer about the ostentatious stacking of lavish materials; it is about providing a sanctuary for the mind, body, and soul within a space,” Andrew explains. In his practice, the spiritual essence of traditional Eastern architecture is distilled into serene, restrained structural space and quiet aesthetics. Unbound by the constraints of any single regional style, he returns to the philosophical core of “exquisite simplicity without excess.” Through capturing natural light and shadow, highlighting the raw authenticity of wood and stone, and utilizing minimalist lines, he sculpts an understated beauty rich in Eastern philosophy.
Andrew’s meticulous craftsmanship and pursuit of this design philosophy have earned him top-tier global acclaim. Designed by the am PLUS team, the “St Michel” residential project stood out among nearly 11,000 entries from 72 countries to win the prestigious German iF Design Award 2024 in the Residential Interior Design category. Known as the “Oscar of Design,” the iF Design Award is judged by a panel of 132 independent global design experts. Receiving this honor signifies that am PLUS’s design prowess, blending international aesthetic refinement with exceptional functional utility, has gained unanimous recognition from world-class peers. Furthermore, Andrew was named one of the “40 UNDER 40 Outstanding Contemporary Young Designers.” He has also garnered an array of esteemed accolades worldwide, including the U.S. MUSE Design Awards as Gold Winner and the Taiwan Good Design Award, solidifying his industry renown through proven expertise.
Spatial Algorithms and Spiritual Resonance: Expanding from Luxury Residences to B2B Commercial Spaces
Both Hong Kong and top-tier cities in Mainland China face the rigorous challenge of high-density urban land scarcity. Market research and industry insights indicate that the spatial demands of urban high-net-worth individuals have evolved from conventional sensory decoration to a dual pursuit of optimized functionality and spiritual sanctuary. Addressing this trend, Andrew translates Eastern wisdom into a sophisticated “spatial algorithm.” Regardless of space constraints, he adeptly dissolves physical boundaries using dynamic partitions and adaptable raised platforms.
In expansive luxury residences, this algorithm translates into fluid circulation layouts and magnificent spatial proportions. Recently, am PLUS successfully executed a four-story villa project exceeding 3,000 square feet on Mount Austin Road, Hong Kong. Andrew skillfully employed Eastern quiet luxury aesthetics, utilizing pure, serene materials and natural light play within a dynamic three-dimensional space to effortlessly express understated luxury. Visual short films documenting the project’s execution received widespread acclaim upon release. “Expansive spaces provide designers with a broader canvas for creation,” Andrew notes. He observes that many high-net-worth clients with refined taste resonate deeply with the quiet luxury of modern Eastern design, and he looks forward to leading his team in crafting more expansive living spaces that embody aesthetic depth and spiritual resonance.
Andrew’s design ambitions extend beyond luxury residential projects. Currently, am PLUS maintains a portfolio ratio of approximately 30% commercial and 70% residential. With the official launch of the CIID Hong Kong Center, Andrew plans to guide the firm through a strategic transformation, gradually shifting toward a balanced 50/50 ratio between commercial and residential domains.
“We aim to translate the meticulous planning and human-centric experiences accumulated from years in luxury residential design into B2B commercial spaces, including corporate offices, retail flagships, and boutique dining,” Andrew affirms. He firmly believes that experiential commercial design not only helps businesses reduce costs and boost efficiency but also transforms rigid commercial environments into inspiring hubs for personal creativity and emotional connection.
Compassion Fueling Creativity: Enriching Design through Human Warmth
In their daily routine, interior designers work with hard architectural materials such as steel, timber, stone, and paint. Beyond his demanding design and managerial duties, Andrew has long dedicated himself to social welfare, actively volunteering with charitable organizations such as “Social Seed (社企苗).” Serving as a compassionate guest instructor, he teaches engaging introductory science courses to primary school students. This warm, cross-disciplinary engagement, seemingly unrelated to high-end design, actually serves as a primary source of Andrew’s creative inspiration.
Andrew reflects thoughtfully: “Design should not be confined to cold blueprints. Only by possessing empathy, loving life, and observing the subtle nuances around us can we truly understand the implicit, unspoken spatial aspirations of our clients. Every time I feel the authentic pulse of society and exchange genuine glances with children, it refines my ‘sixth sense’—my intuition and inspiration. I want every design I create to carry warmth, serving as a meaningful contribution to life and living.”
With the establishment of the CIID Hong Kong Center, Andrew will assume his new role to lead am PLUS DESIGNS forward, continuously exploring and advancing the dual dimensions of contemporary Eastern quiet aesthetics and high-end humanistic spatial design.

Emerging economies are becoming the EV industry’s fastest-growing markets, creating new opportunities for automakers with an international footprint. VinFast’s latest expansion reflects that shift.
DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES – Media OutReach Newswire – 5 August 2026 – For much of the past decade, the global electric vehicle conversation has revolved around three markets: China, the United States, and Europe. But recent industry data suggests the next chapter may be written elsewhere.
In July, VinFast exported more than 5,000 electric vehicles aboard two dedicated vessels.
According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), global car sales fell about 5% in the first half of 2026 as economic pressures, fuel price volatility and policy changes weighed on demand in China and the US. Yet electric vehicle sales rebounded strongly in the second quarter, reaching record levels in 50 countries. Markets including Vietnam, India, Australia and South Korea roughly doubled EV sales compared with a year earlier, while more than 90 countries posted year-on-year growth during the first half of the year.
The shift reflects a broader change in where future industry growth is likely to come from. While China remains the world’s largest EV market, the IEA expects sales there to stagnate this year for the first time this decade, even as electric vehicles account for more than 60% of new car sales. Meanwhile, emerging markets are becoming increasingly important, supported by expanding policy incentives, growing charging infrastructure and rising consumer interest.
The agency also notes that China and other emerging economies are expected to account for around 60% of global car demand over the next decade, making success in these markets an increasingly important determinant of future automotive leadership.
VinFast’s latest performance reflects this changing landscape.
The Vietnamese automaker delivered 70,085 electric vehicles globally in the second quarter of 2026, up 96% year-on-year, bringing first-half deliveries to 128,662 vehicles, a 78% increase from the same period last year. The company’s two-wheel business also continued to expand rapidly, with 286,039 electric scooters and e-bikes delivered during the quarter, up 311% year-on-year.
The delivery mix also highlights the importance of products designed for diverse market needs. Models ranging from the compact VF 3 and VF 5 to the Limo Green MPV and the newly introduced VF MPV 7 all contributed meaningfully to second-quarter volumes, suggesting demand is spread across both personal mobility and commercial transportation segments.
Just as significant is where those vehicles are going.
In July, VinFast exported more than 5,000 electric vehicles aboard two dedicated vessels. One shipment, consisting of approximately 1,500 VF 6 SUVs, was designated for partner Green SM’s planned expansion in Europe, while another transported more than 3,500 vehicles to the Philippines and Indonesia. The voyages marked VinFast’s 37th and 38th international export shipments in fewer than four years, underscoring the increasing operational scale behind its global expansion.
VinFast’s effort in international market, including in the Middle East, shows that as growth becomes more geographically diversified, automakers can no longer rely on a handful of mature markets to drive expansion. Instead, success will increasingly depend on building products, distribution networks and operations that can compete across a wide range of emerging economies.
For the global EV industry, the center of gravity is not disappearing from established markets. It is becoming far more distributed. VinFast’s recent momentum suggests that companies positioned across multiple high-growth regions may be among the best placed to benefit from that shift.

Chinese optical-component shares fell sharply on Wednesday after reports that Washington is preparing restrictions on data-centre equipment from China, raising fresh concerns over access to the world’s largest artificial intelligence infrastructure market.
Zhongji Innolight dropped about 10% in both Shanghai and Hong Kong, while Eoptolink Technology also lost 10%. Suzhou TFC Optical Communication declined roughly 6%. The CSI 300 Telecommunication Services Index fell as much as 9% during early trading before trimming some losses.
The sell-off followed disclosures that the administration of US President Donald Trump is drafting a measure that would bar imports of new Chinese optical transceiver models on national security grounds. The Federal Communications Commission is working on the proposed restrictions and is seeking to publish them before the end of the year.
No final decision has been announced, and the proposed rules could be altered, delayed or abandoned. Neither the White House nor the FCC has publicly detailed the measure.
Optical transceivers are essential components in modern data centres. They convert electrical signals into light and allow vast volumes of information to move at high speed through fibre-optic cables connecting servers, switches and computing clusters.
Demand for the devices has surged as technology groups build larger facilities for training and operating artificial intelligence models. These systems require thousands of advanced processors to communicate rapidly, making optical networking a critical part of the AI supply chain.
Chinese manufacturers have secured a substantial position in the global market by combining high-volume production with competitive pricing. Zhongji Innolight holds an estimated 27% share of the global data-centre transceiver market and is among the leading suppliers of high-speed products used in AI computing systems.
The company derived 62% of its revenue from the United States during the first quarter of 2026. It has previously warned that an escalation in trade tensions could produce a steep decline in earnings or lead to losses.
Eoptolink is similarly exposed, generating about 96% of its sales from overseas markets. TFC Optical also depends heavily on foreign customers, leaving all three companies vulnerable to any restriction affecting shipments to US cloud-computing operators.
The proposed action would mark a further expansion of Washington’s technology controls. Earlier measures concentrated mainly on preventing China from acquiring advanced semiconductors, chipmaking equipment and other technologies with potential military applications.
US policy is now extending towards limiting Chinese companies’ access to the domestic market. The FCC has already imposed or prepared restrictions covering telecommunications equipment, drones, routers, connected power inverters and advanced robots.
Under the plan being considered, the agency could initially prohibit imports of all new optical transceiver models and then grant exemptions to suppliers outside China. Existing devices may remain unaffected, although the scope of any final regulation has yet to be established.
US officials are concerned that foreign-made components embedded in data centres could enable data theft, malware installation or service disruption. Supporters of tighter controls argue that Washington should act before Chinese equipment becomes deeply integrated into critical AI infrastructure.
The approach reflects lessons drawn from Huawei, whose telecommunications equipment became widely installed before security restrictions were introduced. Removing or replacing those systems proved costly and complicated for network operators.
A ban would also create challenges for US cloud-computing companies. Amazon Web Services and other operators may have to shift orders to suppliers such as Coherent and Lumentum, potentially increasing procurement costs and slowing the expansion of data-centre capacity.
Shares of US optical-networking companies rose after details of the proposal emerged. Lumentum gained about 7%, Coherent climbed 11% and Applied Optoelectronics advanced 18%, as investors anticipated greater demand for non-Chinese products.
Industry specialists have cautioned that US suppliers may lack the manufacturing scale required to replace Chinese vendors quickly. Any abrupt change could tighten global supplies of high-speed transceivers at a time when technology groups are spending heavily on AI infrastructure.
Some market analysts also viewed Wednesday’s declines as excessive. They said the proposal could serve as a negotiating tool before an expected visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping to the United States in September.
Trade relations remain shaped by mutual dependence. Washington relies on China for rare-earth minerals used in electronics and optical systems, while Chinese technology companies depend on US customers, processors and specialised equipment.
Arabian Post Staff -Dubai Iran and Oman are discussing a temporary central shipping corridor through the Strait of Hormuz as negotiators seek to restore safer commercial passage across one of the world’s most important energy routes. The proposal would reopen the strait’s so-called middle passage, a route largely avoided by vessels since fighting disrupted maritime traffic in late February. Ships have instead relied on northern waters closer […]

Apple’s annual sales in India surpassed $10 billion for the first time, strengthening the country’s position as one of the technology group’s fastest-growing consumer markets.
Revenue for the financial year ended March 2026 rose from nearly $9 billion a year earlier, driven mainly by demand for iPhones, Mac computers and services. The increase came as Apple widened its company-owned retail network, expanded financing options and deepened distribution beyond the largest metropolitan centres.
The performance marks a sharp acceleration from the roughly $8 billion recorded in the year ended March 2024. It also underlines Apple’s ability to gain ground in a price-sensitive market where devices using Google’s Android operating system account for the overwhelming majority of smartphone sales.
The iPhone remained Apple’s largest source of revenue in the country. Sales were supported by premiumisation in the smartphone market, trade-in programmes and instalment plans that reduced the upfront cost of devices. Older iPhone models also continued to attract buyers after price reductions following new product launches.
Apple does not disclose country-level sales in its global financial statements. The India figure reflects sales booked through its local operation and may include products distributed through company stores, online channels, authorised resellers and large electronics chains.
The company now operates six physical stores across Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Pune and Noida. Its latest outlet opened in Borivali, Mumbai, in February, adding to Apple BKC, Apple Saket, Apple Hebbal, Apple Koregaon Park and Apple Noida.
Further retail expansion is being prepared, including another store in Bengaluru. Apple has also been recruiting specialists, technical staff and customer-support employees for multiple locations, indicating that its direct-sales presence will continue to grow.
Company-owned stores offer Apple greater control over pricing, product presentation and after-sales support. They also provide space for training sessions, product demonstrations and technical services, helping the group build customer loyalty in a market where many purchases have traditionally been made through third-party retailers.
The Apple Store online, launched in 2020, remains an important part of the company’s strategy. It allows customers across the country to access trade-ins, custom Mac configurations, education pricing and direct delivery, including in cities without a physical Apple outlet.
Apple’s sales expansion has coincided with a substantial increase in local manufacturing. Contract manufacturers Foxconn and Tata Electronics have raised iPhone assembly capacity, while suppliers are expanding component operations to support a broader production ecosystem.
The country is expected to account for about a quarter of global iPhone production during 2026. Apple has also been working to supply a larger share of devices sold in the United States from factories operated by its partners in the country, reducing dependence on China.

Authorities have proposed extending exemptions covering machinery provided to electronics producers until 2041. The measures are designed to reduce tax uncertainty for global suppliers and encourage longer-term investment in mobile phones, laptops, tablets and wearable devices.
Local production has helped Apple avoid some import duties and improve product availability. However, the company still relies heavily on components sourced from abroad, and manufacturing costs can remain higher than in China because of logistics, tariffs and a less developed supplier base.
India delivered another record quarter for Apple during the three months ended June. Mac sales reached an all-time high in the country, while demand for iPhones and other devices continued to expand.

HONG KONG SAR – Media OutReach Newswire – 2 August 2026 – The Eugene BB Expo, Hong Kong’s largest annual maternity and baby grand event, grandly opened at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. XINGZISHAN, an original Chinese functional kids’ loungewear brand from mainland China, staged its highly anticipated debut at the exhibition. Blending Eastern and Western aesthetics with premium craftsmanship, the brand leverages the Greater Bay Area as a strategic gateway to complete its landmark Hong Kong & Macau market premiere, officially kicking off its overseas expansion journey.
Mainland Original Base Layer Specialist Debuts at Hong Kong’s Top Baby Expo
Founded to solve real parenting pain points, XINGZISHAN focuses on essential close-fitting apparel for children. The brand independently develops high-performance fabrics featuring seamless skin-friendly construction, anti-allergy skincare protection, breathability and quick-dry properties. It has built a full matrix of kids’ base layers tailored to tropical subtropical Hong Kong parenting needs, addressing common challenges including kids’ excessive sweating, sensitive skin, temperature fluctuations between day and night, and multi-scenario indoor & outdoor wear.
Long dominated by overseas and Hong Kong maternity brands, the Eugene BB Expo delivers dual value for end-consumer retail traffic and cross-border business matching, with few mainland original kids’ base layer brands participating in previous editions. Bringing its complete lineup of functional children’s base layers to the expo, XINGZISHAN stood out as a distinctive representative of original mainland brands. Through differentiated original design and robust product performance, the brand showcased the premium quality and humanistic warmth of Chinese independent kids’ wear labels.
Original Mission: One Base Layer, Endless Comfort for Kids’ Unrestrained Growth
XINGZISHAN adheres to its core brand ethos — “From Base Layer to Life Backing, Safely is Basic”. Beyond crafting soft inner layers, the brand creates safe, professional, well-fitted and stylish functional apparel to safeguard children’s freedom to explore, while easing parents’ stress over daily kids’ outfit selection.
Speaking at the booth, Zhang Yangzhi, Founder of XINGZISHAN, shared the brand’s founding vision: “Base layers stay close to children’s skin every single day, forming the most fundamental layer of protection as they grow. We aim to perfect this intimate daily essential, using professional fabrics and tailored cuts to support kids’ unrestrained childhood.”
Throughout the exhibition run, the brand’s booth drew steady crowds of Hong Kong expectant mothers, local parents, cross-border families and maternity retail procurement buyers. Many mums commented that XINGZISHAN’s sweat-wicking, non-chafing seamless fabrics perfectly fit Hong Kong’s humid climate and kids’ active daily routines. The versatile loungewear pieces that transition effortlessly from bedroom to outdoor outings greatly simplify parents’ daily childcare routines.
The brand also addresses a key consumer pain point for fathers, who often struggle to find kids’ clothing balancing appealing aesthetics and reliable quality. With premium fabric texture and child-centric aesthetic design, XINGZISHAN earns consistent family approval, cementing its position as a top household apparel choice.
Cultural Exchange: Oriental Inspirations Meet Minimalist Western Design
This debut at the Eugene BB Expo marks a critical milestone in XINGZISHAN’s global expansion, as well as a vivid showcase of Chinese kids’ wear cultural export. The booth space integrates brand storytelling, natural fabric displays and parenting philosophies, paired with local Hong Kong touches such as tram elements to boost visitor engagement.
Breaking away from the cluttered heavy prints typical of traditional Chinese-style children’s clothing, XINGZISHAN harmoniously fuses Eastern culture with Western minimalism. Drawing visual motifs from ginkgo leaves, wheat ears and auspicious cloud patterns, the brand pairs them with clean, streamlined silhouettes iconic to Western kids’ fashion, alongside soft, low-saturation natural tones that strike an ideal balance between practicality and gentle aesthetic charm.
Global Expansion Roadmap: Hong Kong as the Springboard for Overseas Growth
Capitalizing on Hong Kong’s unique geographical advantage as “backed by Mainland China, connected to the world” and its role as a super connector, XINGZISHAN seizes the Eugene BB Expo platform to connect deeply with Hong Kong & Macau maternity retail channels, chain stores and procurement resources. The brand will rapidly penetrate local Hong Kong and Macau markets, establishing a direct supply chain from mainland original kids’ wear brands to regional families.
Moving forward, XINGZISHAN plans to steadily expand into Southeast Asian markets. It will bring Chinese kids’ apparel R&D expertise and Eastern parenting aesthetics to the Greater Bay Area and international audiences, paving the way for original domestic children’s wear brands to shine on a broader global stage.
